I agree. The reason why it doesn't feel that way is because of the wealth of tutorial website on how to run git commands or the users already got used to it. Mercurial names are much more natural but it lost the war already. I use git every day and don't complain when using it. But when a junior is learning git, you start seeing the oddities.
