I am surprised too. If your number one problem is short deadlines, using Go is simply more obvious for CLI.

Have you heard of Geohash? My mind was blown the first time I learned it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geohash

Do you know about: * HyperLogLog? Convenient for doing approximate counting across huge datasets. * SkipList is another probabilistic data structure that allows you to skip ahead N elements in 1 step. I believe ClickHouse uses it. * Bitmap

Airflow is a successful open source low code system in my opinion. And it is a pleasure to use.

I think PostgreSQL has enough features by now. They should try to focus on operational and scalability aspects now.

Please update this thread once you found the answer. I have the same question as well. I am probably luckier than 99% of people but somehow... it never felt enough.

I was sick, so I slept a lot and didn't even noticed HN went down.

I agree, please don't just accept the optimization and sweep the GIL removal under the rug again.

Anything is hard when you are not familiar with it. Be nice to yourself and don’t expect that you can power through many decades of programming knowledge in just a few hours.

I thought full stack means going all the way down to tuning the database, the kernel, building your own CI/CD, and performing your own deployment and scaling.

I don't use bookmarking services. In between: 1. Sending email to myself with appropriate keywords. 2. Writing them in Notes app. 3. and private git repo for my personal knowledge bank. I got all my needs covered.

heh, I knew for sure Deno would be successful from the first moment it appeared on HN and people here were critical of it. My rule of: The more HN criticizes it, the more likely it succeeded, still rings true.

The organization must have a need first. And then, after you have a legitimate need, use a hosted Kubernetes solution. Don't roll your own. It's really that simple.

I am in awe with this masterpiece. How do you even gained the knowledge to pull off something like this (and Cosmopolitan)? You are up there on the same level as Fabrice Bellard!

The government and the media keep freaking out about birth rate declining but made no attempts in fixing the poor working conditions in Japan. Who wants to date, marry, or have kids if you can barely live your life?

Does it have a Helm chart? It will speed up adoption by a lot if Helm chart is provided.

This deal sounds like it is great for C-suites and investors. I don't know if it's great for the employees. My guess is that there will be a lot of cost cutting moves soon.

Everything you loved about Perl is exactly why I hate it. The syntax noise is too great and it has too many ways for people to be too clever with it.

These are all great ideas. Why didn’t they implement many of these inside Messenger or WhatsApp? I also wonder why Meta suddenly lost their competitive spirit in Messaging space. WA is so behind compared to WeChat/Line/Kakao.
