All these hype around SQLite recently and I am still confused. * How do you replicate it consistently? * Who has the master privilege (or masters if sharded)? What's the failover story? I am guessing a blob store is involved, but I hav

Java moves a lot slower so I don't think it will obsoletes Go. If anything, if Loom is great, then it will keep Go on its toes and hopefully Go will also evolved due to external pressure.

Isn’t declining population a government problem? Perhaps it’s ok for the human race to reduce in numbers to help heal the planet? Population reduction is a very strong signal for the government to change its behavior and yet… they still beh

I am with you. Every time I looked at GraphQL or asked to implement one, I had to say no. How is this a good thing for the backend or infra engineers? It's a mega facade without a lot of toolings to help the backend. GraphQL reminded m

If you are building server-side applications using Python 3 and async API and if you didn't use https://github.com/MagicStack/uvloop , you are missing out on performance big time. Also, if you happen to build micro

Whenever I see a few internal apps made with React/Vue, they would miss super basic features such as highlight-able text or canonical permalinks. It got me thinking, why these frameworks make simple things difficult? Note that I am a b

Isn’t this the reality inside any large companies in America? Contractors will always live in a different world than full timers. It sucks, but that’s what it is.

I don't know anything about building a POSIX OS from scratch. I don't know much about Rust as well. That said, Redox code base is clean and very approachable. Kudos! I do see a lot of unsafe keyword, are they inevitable?

My first reaction: Say good bye to Twitter's famous WLB. Second reaction: I think Twitter has a lot of potential still. The platform is currently stuck in the past and having a power user being in-charge would help Twitter grow again.

I have been thinking of subscription only coffee shop. Members bring some kind of card to scan and enter. This way, members have a safe place to come in, work, and read whatever they want to read.

This blogpost is as unnecessarily complicated as Puppet codebase. I hate working on Puppet codebase, it is so fragile and too easy to write spaghetti.

In the beginning of node.js life, NPM the company had a guerilla marketing that says: The smaller the package, the better for reusability. That stained the node.js ecosystem forever, until now. This is why I am excited about Deno, Ryan want

I am forever surprised that Evernote is still functioning as a company. It is just a note taking tool, something that can easily be done with a git repo hosted on github.

I fucking love what Ryan is trying to do with Deno. The entire JS landscape is unnecessarily complicated and NPM is making it even worse. Deno is making JS development fun again. Major props. I hope Deno Deploy is a commercial success for t
