people taking short segments of code that are implementations of common algorithms and claiming those as "copied" by copilot are wrong. it didn't copy, it learned and wrote.

also, only testing public interfaces is perfectly fine and may actually be preferable as it leaves you free to refactor internals freely without breaking tests. tbh unit testing is a balancing act between reaping code quality benefits and b

For the first few months of my first job in 1996 people were using dialup internet.... and I spent a lot / most of my time reading documentation from a giant set of manuals that came with the devkit we were using.

I came up with a clever one recently. So, I had a stream of records of fixed size where I will receive exactly one per second. I needed to keep approximately two weeks of this data. I would also need to be able to query the records by time.

For me, a working net positive fusion reactor means a ton. Here are some things you could do with free (or essentially free) clean energy: 1) desalinization to provide water to everyone. 2) massive carbon capture 3) convert the world away f

I have written a couple of mmap() based time series databases. In my case, these were databases for holding video. For my uses, mmap() has been great. I strongly agree with your comment. Maybe mmap() isn't the greatest, but it has work
