Yeah. These are always low priority because they are not from paying customers right? Except they impact your customers directly. Bonus point: they are customers you can easily talk to and watch how they work. Super fast feedback loop ! Wan

The answer is to accept it. Problems happens. We are dealing with systems that are inherently complex. You can try to alleviate some problems but in the end this lack of communication is also what create the success. It allows for "sla

The answer is it depends. In that case i am pretty sure the main target was libraries authors and devtools authors. But we can consider the users as operators. It depends of the use case. For a turbotax example, turbotax is here to give con

Sure. Have a look at Eve online as an example. You have communities of thousands of people (up to 20k). And the environment is quite close to the one of the current market for corporations. They also face spying, people not doing their fair

I see you have dealt with some of them recently :D I mean to be honest, it is a great thing for me. As my specialty is to cleanup and replace that kind of systems, ala 18f/USDS. I have an easy job finding for my whole life. But hell it

So basically what i said. We do not know how to statically type it, just try to provide some false safety.

regarding point 3: In 2018, for an actor model on the BEAM, it is really easy to justify not being statically type. For a single simple reason. No one knows how to do it. It is an open research problem and we are far from a solution still

And still it is the truth. More than you think. Hell i work for a car manufacturer with thousands of devs. Most of them have not heard from anything since early 00s Perl, PHP and Java. And they have not moved. Everything newer is "Star

Yes. After a few years of ban, Ericsson changed gears. The recent head of tech at Ericsson look at that past as a real miss. All Ericsson 3G switch/router are in Erlang. Ericsson has a small team maintaining erlang and they are the ste

Hint : you can also use 'calc' with vw and vh to get some more complex behaviours than purely proportional. You can add an offset, you can do some multiplications etc. Don't go overboard, but a little offset can go a long way

The main reason is that no research in static typing have found how to type the function self() in an actor model yet. There are some typed language on the BEAM but far from being reliable on prod. Quite simply, noone knows how to efficient

Lot and lot. Build. Docker layering do not fit the model of building software and dependency, which makes its caching really brittle. At that point i discourage having layers. Networking: this is a mess, even k8s do not solve it completely.

Because refcounting means lot of cache miss on the CPU core. One of the interesting advantage of erlang is that its processes are small and mostly fit in L2 memory. So you can load a whole process at once, then compute for your whole slice,
