Getting people that don't want the email (and won't click) to turn off the emails entirely helps keep the CTR high :)

At first I thought this was a typo. Then I thought it was another April Fools joke. Now I feel bad for the Seton Hill marketing team trying to compete against the much better known Seton Hall University.

HDTV was new enough to me the last time I made a purchase that I assumed an HDMI cable would be in the box. It wasn't and next time I will plan ahead. Not everyone will do that so, so maybe a little business for same day delivery of cable

This quote struck me: I’m determined to tell my kids and grandkids amazing stories beyond my iPod and iPhone ones. That makes me feel simultaneously small and motivated.

I couldn't agree more. I traveled to Croatia a few years ago and stayed with locals. One of the first things each of them said was some variation of "I don't like George Bush." Simply saying "I don't either" brightened them up considerab

"Housing first" has been pretty successful so far. It just makes sense on so many levels, including economic. Just Google it for more info. The fact that there is only one homeless man left in Times Square is kind of amazing. Of course

"Money Ball" by Michael Lewis is great. It's about evaluating talent in new ways to exploit market inefficiencies in baseball.

Transferring bags between identical planes will decrease risk but it won't eliminate it. Unless the same people are transferring (and hence the same bags) then the number and size of bags is going to change. Presumably people are transferr

Upvoted for giving insight into your process. I criticized that post for being over the top. A friend uses a similar technique where he overstates almost everything and it is effective. People listen to his opinions. The danger is in ov

I reread the post and will admit my comment doesn't directly engage the spirit of the post. His core thought is to build something for the long haul and put your love into it which is a good strategy (but not the only strategy). My commen

Direct quote from the post: Selling your company only makes sense if you think they can do a better job than you can. Or when you think they’re overvaluing the prospects of your company. That’s either the talk of the meek or a con man (“let

First off, almost everything is for sale at the right price. If someone offered 37signals one trillion dollars would the sell? Of course. Also, there are other reasons to sell than "some sucker is willing to pay x". Maybe you are burnt o

Microsoft decided to kill IE, with 6 being the final version, in order to integrate the browser into Windows. Five years and a few major court cases later and they changed their tune and began work on IE7.

Perhaps I'm splitting semantic hairs, but what is "regular" fiction? Science fiction is a subset of fiction, but it is fiction nonetheless. If a novel is set in 18th Century Europe is it then not "regular" fiction? Is it "only" historica
