It actually sounds a lot like what I do, which is a close cousin to the good old-fashioned scientific notebook. This is a neat read that I just found searching: https://www.training.nih.gov/assets/Lab_Notebook_508_(new

My system is much like yours in terms of notebook organization- I use it like a daily diary with TOC and all. I use graph-ruled composition notebooks.

I use this method almost exclusively. Even for things like meetings (to my sibling's comment). The trade-off is that I tend to only take notes on one side of the page, using the back side of the previous page for organizing my though

I don't mind ads. I revolt against tracking.

It introduces far, far less overhead than advertising does though, so I bet they could handle it. Especially if they did $5/mo and essentially doubled the profits from these people.

I think you are over-generalizing. As an anec-datum, I made this point to someone in 2014 (that FB makes about $25/year/person)and I asked if he would pay $25/year. He said he would pay $25/month. And this is definite

I'll admit I don't fully understand how those containers work, but I assumed it would allow me to have different fingerprints for different scumbags so that it's harder to cross-correlate. Is that naive?

Updates are different from upgrades, though. But if you are saying that we should pay for premium (in order to get the updates, which you are saying we should stay on top of), then I get what you're saying.

It goes directly against the WordPress Detailed Plugin Guidelines to both upsell, and to hijack the admin dashboard [0]. Wow. When I was playing with WP I saw this a ton. It was so annoying that I would have to make a point of disabling

I think it best to think about the ads in the same way you would in any other medium. Unless you have a special offer or something, it's just branding. The original hypothesis upon which Google was founded, that people would be inter

Engaging with these threads for a couple of years. I will say though that there seem to be more people here in the biz of tracking than there used to be.

I (and I think I speak for most of us- so this is clarifying for later readers) don't object to ads as long as they are not trackers. The next anti-tracking technology should include fake tracking.

Interestingly, this is one of the inspirations for Study Swami. I saw a lot of this- and even with less gifted students but who still didn't know how to live up to their "potential."

It's something akin to "don't sell past the close." Just get the info you need for the sale, and offer the user an opportunity to sign up for more info/etc after getting their payment.

Tracking needs to be illegal. Period. As long as it's legal, even conditionally, we will be playing whack-a-mole. There's a helluva lot of trash on the internet that's there only because somebody is trying to game the ad

The US works by checks and balances. You can't point to, for example, the US military and say "see, we have the expectation with the military so it will transfer." You have to say, "See, the world holds respect for <

Yes- intellectual dishonesty is at the root of this. When I was raised, the integrity of a "man's" word was a measure of the "goodness" of the person. Now, we hear things like "he said what he had to say"
