Getting somewhat far afield of the OP, but in healthcare, the bigger trend seems to be a move from HL7v2 past the dumpster fire that was XML-based HL7v3 to JSON-based FHIR.

CitusDB is an option for scaling out PostgreSQL workloads, but it's not a direct equivalent to Aurora. That's both good and bad in different ways. E.g., it's good that CitusDB is not a fork of PostgreSQL as Aurora is a fork o

The value of studying more advanced mathematics is not tied strictly to what will be used on a day-to-day basis in one's job. I studied math well beyond what I use in my day-to-day work as a software engineer, but I've found it va

Lots of my peers in their late 30s and early or mid 40s who have decided they now want kids are spending 5-figure sums on fertility procedures such as IVF, etc. Also, there's a substantial increase in the probability of birth defects w

That statement makes sense given that there's really never a convenient time to have kids or a point in time at which they will become less expensive. If having kids is a priority for you, it's better to start earlier rather than

Same here. No decrease in performance during fasts and I push myself pretty hard on both cardio and weights. If anything, I feel a little bit better since I tend to be a little more alert and focused during fasts.

This is the sweet spot of ORMs. A team lead early in my career wrote a tool that read the database schema and generated all the marshaling code at the application layer. We got a degree of type safety and relief from a lot of boilerplate co
