Right. This is comparative rather than historical - looking at a few fascist movements in recent times and distilling a common core.

Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Docs are huge JavaScript web apps that run in all modern browsers and have enormous user bases. They form a huge part of Google's business. Additionally, Google develops, maintains, and promotes popular

No, you're incorrect, C and Java do have block scope. It would have taken like 5 seconds to verify that. In C: #include <stdio.h> int main() { if (1) { int a = 5; } printf("%d\n", a);

I'm pretty certain that Herman Cain is not a programmer. I live in Atlanta and he's had an obnoxious talk radio show here for years. I don't think it's the education that is relevant, it's the profession and world view.

I disagree. The judges don't sufficiently understand the Internet or software to interpret the relevant laws and parts of the constitution. There is too much room for the Justice Dept. to continue defending what should be considered uncon

Working in a given profession for an extended period of time imparts a certain world view. Most politicians were lawyers, and I think it shows. Maybe we need a "hacker" president, not just a programmer, but I do believe that a programmer

There's a huge "Follow so-and-so" Twitter button immediately following the writing, so I'm pretty sure that the corny self-promotion didn't need to be part of the article itself. I read lots of articles where this happens, and it's always

Right now it's just using Objective-C exceptions. Your iOS code that calls into the J2ObjC-translated Java code will have to handle the exceptions.

This is a new effort. The tool produces Objective-C output that is "reasonably" close to what a human might write, so that the sources can be more easily integrated with other Objective-C code in an iOS app and debugged, whereas XMLVM outpu

To save time for those who won't read the wiki: This is not a tool to convert Java apps to iOS apps. This is a tool that helps you write business logic in one language so it can be shared without duplication between Android, web (via GWT)

Well, nearly everything you said about J2ObjC is incorrect. 1. You can use ARC with J2ObjC. Your other comment about it not being supported is incorrect. 2. If you're not using ARC, then no, annotations are not required to get reference cou

I worked on this project at Google this summer as part of my internship (I wrote the dead code elimination phase). I think this is more useful for sharing business logic code between Android, iOS, and web (via GWT) apps without re-writes i
