I don't know if that's necessarily true. I wouldn't want a Rails on Node per say,,mainly because even if you have everything(and no, none of the Rails clones do Rails very well) your still stuck with callbacks, or generator

I'll go ahead and back this point up also. The visual white space is actually making it harder to read the code.

Ruby the language is no more slow then Javascript the language is. Yes Javascript on IE8 engine is slow. On V8 it is not. Ruby on MRI is slow(though for most people, it's fast enough). Ruby on JVM is not.

AFAIK Dart still does not have generators. I want to like Dart but if puts me in the same boat as Javascript does on the server, then NO.

Exactly. That proves my point. There are no Ruby like languages ready to replace Ruby right now.

I used to look at the TIOBE index all the time, until I saw Visual Basic .NET jump a bunch of spots this year. I then started to question either TIOBE index or the people that are using Visual Basic.NET

NodeJS, been there done that. Even with generators it makes doing task synchronously a royal pain(have you ever tried to write sql update code with transactions?). Until something comes a long to replace Ruby( https://github.com

Hopefully I won't get down voted for this, but I've never understood why developers use something like Wordpress. Use Jekyll or Middleman. If you have the knowledge to do Angular tutorials you can type middleman build in a comma

What is causing you to create URLs without trailing slashes? 99% of all web frameworks allow for optional trailing slash. Go to any website. A url with or without a trailing slash typically works, it either redirects to no trailing slash

Scala can be summed up in one issue. http://play.lighthouseapp.com/projects/82401/tickets/98 I loved Play 1.x(early adopter also) but I have since moved on. I gave Play 2 a solid chance. Scala programmers s

Maybe I'm not opened minded enough, but I just don't believe the future is ARM on the desktop/server. I believe the future is x86 on the phone. I feel like it's less time until Intel gets the power correct as opposed t

Lets see the amount of fires of, lets say, the Ford Fusion in the past 6 weeks. Or maybe the amount the fires for all of Ford vehicles. It's only because Tesla is so focused on. This kind of reminds me how the media reports every sin

I Never said no one has built business logic in Node.js. I'm also not sure where you implied that I've dismissed Node, because I most certainly haven't. In fact I have several Node applications in production at my company.

I'll make a bold claim. Meteor is not the future of web programming. Why? Because JSF, that's why. This has already been done in the Java world. I believe the future of web programming is REST apis(in whatever the hell languag

But why? Meteor is a paradigm shift from the front end. Front end Javascript is asynchronous and event based. Meteor is synchronous. You're going to take a hit learning any framework, no matter the language. I picked up Rails just

But why. Why does your app need realtime? That's the part I'm missing. I see a Rails/Angular app right there, and in the end you'll feel good because your data is in the capable hands of Postgres/Mysql

First you say > . You just have to do so much glueing In your previous post. Then you list out MEAN(Mongo, Express, Angular, Node), which is all glueing. I have used this stack extensively, and I must say its not even close to Rails.

Give this whole Meteor thing some more time to sink in. Your still in the honeymoon phase. I know this because you list context switching. Anyone that moves to Node(or meteor) and lists context switching as a reason, is not long for this
