Not enough Enterprise or cloud in the name, I don't know that I can get enough buy-in as-is.

Yep - my biggest gripe is seeing errors with no context around them - either a stack trace or...well...the context.Context.

I'm going to be pedantic and say the idea of fixed requirements is out of fashion. The software I write has requirements, but they change about 1/3 of the way through each sprint.

What are you doing in a terminal that you need real-time collaboration? Here's what I do in my terminal: * log in to AWS * push commits (though that's mostly in Emacs now) * tail logs from remote services * use ssh * random greppi

Personally, I'd rather use snippets or some form of "dumb" code generation over an AI to generate the "dumb code". Sure, I'll probably still have to do some typing using those methods, but it's still less

I've been pretty happy with Emacs 27. I haven't noticed significant slowness with that version.

Yeah, I tend to agree. But I know that there are some people who really, really, really like doing stuff in the browser.

If you're already spending a lot of time in the browser looking at stuff (AWS Console, Stack Overflow, etc), I can see the convenience of just switching tabs to your terminal rather than pulling up a window. So far I've solved tha

Give it like, five more years. Big Sur already takes a lot of design cues from iOS - they're prepping the merge. They're just making sure the frog doesn't realize the pot is starting to boil.

Yep, Apple hasn't exactly hidden that's how they do privacy. They give you an identifier that makes sense to their systems, but won't make sense to other observers. They still track you, they just don't tie it to PII (I&

There are some neat things you can do with the Watch specifically - there's NFC stuff you can do to automatically start a specific workout type when the user taps their watch on a piece of equipment, for instance.

I will say I do like the focus on telemetry and tracing - honestly that's the thing I have the hardest time setting up in applications, distributed or otherwise.

This looks neat, but man. I'm not a fan of code generation magic. It's part of the reason I moved away from the Rails ecosystem - even though I knew what Rails was doing under the hood, the magic started to give me the heebie-jeeb

Nothing saying it can't be in a config file. Really all I care about is opt-in over opt-out.

Because 0 has a "default type" of int. So when the compiler goes to determine the type of x, it sees its set to 0, which the compiler assumes to be an int. I've found thinking about nil too much in Go hurts or creates weird l

I'd argue that if the telemetry is opt-out rather than opt-in it has (just _barely_) crossed the border into spyware. Sure it may not be tracking anything more than usage data, but I'd rather see a pop-up/dialog saying, "

I'll tack on: I've happily paid for Fantastical (which is a monthly subscription, granted), and it has the nice menubar interface, a button to join video calls (works with Teams, BlueJeans, Zoom, probably more), integration with A

In addition, I've always seen Square as more of a physical payment processor - I know they do online, but I think that headphone jack dongle was their big thing. I don't see how they can bring that to music, especially by acquirin

You missed the bits where Reddit should start trying to occupy the space of other content-hosting sites to generate more ad revenue and harvest more data from users. It comes down to the fact that Reddit isn't really a social media sit

Between this and Microsoft's recent announcement of opening an Atlanta office, I think tech is the next sector the city wants to attract. And as someone living in ATL and working at one of the few companies to offer competitive salarie

I'm getting pretty into fasd as well. It's basically a drop-in replacement for z, but it's got extra goodies that merge in some of fzf as well.

I can agree with that last statement. Every house I've seen has had a gas fireplace, but I live in the metro area of a city that (in)famously only owned a single snowplow.

I've been in love with minimal keyboards for about a year or two now. I used to use a MiniVan Rev2 as my daily driver. Then I bought a GergoPlex on a whim and couldn't believe how amazing it was. I love the lack of weird stretches

I'm currently working on a project that depends on the k8s APIs and I haven't noticed ballooning compile times. I'm only pulling in k8s.io/api, k8s.io/apimachinery, and k8s.io/go-client though.

Exactly. The game supposedly looks beautiful, but I haven't seen that due to textures not loading well, general low resolution, and choppy FPS. And then I decide to switch to Red Dead Redemption 2, or a FromSoft game, or Battlefront 2
