I read just the title and wondered if this was a yocto post. I have (accident) become the yocto SME at my $dayjob. Probably the biggest positive has been free SBOM generation, and cooking things like kSLOC counts into recipes. The learning

If it means anything, this whole exchange, both in the humor of it and the fantastic display of humanity at the end of it, made me laugh, and then smile. I appreciate this thread.

I hear sf pays public employees extremely well. I think they just got a pay raise recently!

> I'd just describe this job market as competitive… Most job markets are “competitive” most of the time. The tech market is fucked right now. Have you poked around?

Nope, sure aren’t. Unless you want to buy a fully-trained dog, then sure. If you plan to raise chickens, but also plan to buy a 5k dog, you probably aren’t mentally prepared for raising livestock.

I wish QtCreator didn’t require a commercial license for their LLM integration. Do you have any suggestions for a linux-based, qt-tolerant, LLM-integrated IDE? I’d love to try one.

I wish the incentives would flip from “publish” to “reproduce” at this point. Or some 50/50 split. Obviously we need new studies. But the f they don’t replicate, what’s the point?

My understanding, and this holds true for me, is that the introvert/extrovert concept is a “how do you charge your batteries” kind of thing. Extroverts do that around people, introverts do that not-around-people. I’m not sure sticking

So “gaol” is supposedly an alternative way to spell “jail” that I first encountered in a video game. I keep seeing “tyre” on here too. I guess hn is hipster for alternative spellings.

That pdf reads like the first draft of a guide on "how to write safety-critical code" and probably inspired things like DO-178, LOR1, DAL-A, 882, all sorts of standards. Writing C code for a safety-critical system running on an RT

I am super curious, if you’ll indulge me. What kind of economic policy would have let Moores law continue as it had been? Conversely, do you think Moores law would have been faster than 18? months if… someone else identified Moores law? Slo

Men handle rejection poorly, I’ve seen it, as I’m sure we all have. Weeping, drinking, wallowing in self-pity. It can get bad. Women handle rejection with anger, resentment, and vitriol towards the rejecting party. So much so that I’ve seen

If you can’t see that precedent has been set for this already, given the implementer and their proclivities, there is indeed no hope for this discussion. Or were you just trying to bash trump because you’re angry? That’s cool if you’re angr
