After someone mentioned that recently I've started to write really detailed specs with the help of ChatGPT Deep Research and editing it myself. Then getting this exported as a Markdown document and passing it to Cursor really worked ve

Nobody is actively looking after it. Good alerting + monitoring and if there's an alert like a node going down because of some Kubernetes node shuffling or a version upgrade that has to be performed one of our few infra people will do

To add another data point: After working with ES for the past 10 years in production I have to say that ES is never giving us any headaches. We've had issues with ScyllaDB, Redis etc. but ES is just chugging along and just works. The o

This also applies to moving abroad and taking your brokerage depot with you. It will only affect you if you hold more than 1% of a single company though, so most people with regular stock holdings and ETFs will not be affected by that.

It’s a choice to always see the worst in everything. Many blog post submissions here are someone diving into something they like, hardware, software, tool etc. and it’s just because people like to share.

It’s a developer writing about a tool they like. If you’d call word of mouth an “ad” the I guess it’s one.

Do you know anyone who does? There's many big and open Mastodon instances but I've yet to see a Bluesky one.

The author is a student at a university. There's many paths to take that early in the career, I don't think people have to read too much into it.

Which is probably good, as otherwise they would be dead. Building products for self-hosting HN users isn't really a big money maker.

GitHub in essence is still pretty much the same, there's products that have feature creep but I wouldn't say GitHub does that. I can't say that I'm having issues with the performance either. I work with large PRs too (Es

I've watched this a few months ago after randomly seeing it on YouTube. It's a very good talk and fun to follow even if you are not a browser developer. He's a good presenter.

I really hate that you can't set the default search engine easily like in other browsers, or that you can at least easily submit your company to be included in the defaults. But with the Kagi extension all my searches are always redire

Yep, same experience. It's crazy that the very much default case of "iPad and things with Air Tags" has this effect. Not exactly an edge case.

Funnily I wrote almost the same blog post last week, sadly that solution didn't work for me as there's some other processes that are not power nap that wake up my Macs: https://annoying.technology/posts/3e451c

In the Google Search console you can usually see the reason why it's not included. Page speed is rarely a reason for indexing / non-indexing unless it's really bad.
