I think you should weight the number of stars per repo higher. I think I am winning on number of repos and number of gists, but I think the user I'm battling beat me. Quality > Quantity.

Use your words. Why do you think that? This is a professor at a university. I'd like to see him reprimanded or fired if he presents anything close to this article to his students as fact. It is one of the most out of touch articles I've see

RE: "classic OO design ideas experiencing a massive resurgence" I don't know about that. I see a whole lot of functional paradigm chatter these days. That wasn't true 5 years ago as I recall. Then again, I suppose it depends on what color

FWIW I don’t think the Clojure or Scala communities have any kind of “hate” for Java. Clojure views Java as an ally for many of the reasons you discuss. I think you’d be hard-pressed to find people in the Clojure or Scala camps that refuse

"Knife skills" don't make you a good developer. Cook a great steak and worry less about cutting it. Tools are boring. People are far more important. A post like this is akin to "I LOVE BRITNEY SPEARS." Please God, make the programmer pop cu

For a company the size of Samsung this is not a large amount, but it's certainly not a small amount either. Articles like this make me feel like I'm back on slashdot sometimes. Am I alone?

All I know is I went to the HN homepage and I found some linkbait article by Jeff Atwood that was contrary to the other article I saw on the front page. Typical Bullshit.

I pledged $500. The only reason I'm being public about it is because I see people in here complaining about the cost of a license and wanting their dollars to translate into something more than this project simply becoming a reality. I don'

Really cool. I was just playing with it and my girlfriend walked over to ask me a question. I held up my hand to my computer as if to say "Hold on, computer." It was a bit surreal. Very cool. Can't wait for more gestures or a generalized wa

Personally, all I can say is: Other people can choose to accept or reject parentheses. As people who know and understand the power and inherent elegance of the language we need to skip the step where we yearn for recognition and go straight

I am reminded of an oldie but a goodie: http://bc.tech.coop/blog/081201.html Rich Hickey's quote I found interesting from the above article: "There are other ways to model identity and state, one of the more popular of which is the messag

There was an internal memo. They're going to push it. Why do you have to "buck the man" in order to feel like you're in control of your tools? Why does it need to be repeated that everyone has a choice? If Dart grows and solves some of the
