TL;DR: Jobs bad. 1. Make things. 2. Make sure people want it. 3. Keep trying this for a long time.

True. And I wonder if Minix is higher. But from a security point of view, you're only as strong as your weakest link. Linux runs device drivers in kernel space, so your OS is as strong as the hello-kitty driver. Think this is hard to exploi

If that is the benchmark, then Minix beats Linux in virtue of not containing device drivers in kernel space. [1] DD's have 3-7 times as many bugs in Linux than the other code. [2] Linux can do better and I am sure Linus would admit this.

Linux! Ha! I am sure the device driver for that 256mb Hello Kitty USB thumb-drive is poetry. Linux is not the first place I'd look for high-quality code. I think I'd start with Minix.

Can anybody comment on how the Navy restriction to US citizens only developing this plays into the FOSS ecosystem of Android? I assume most of it is GPLv2, so isn't this immaterial? Why would it matter when the code is completely FOSS?

Entitlement to recognition? Everybody should be entitled to that. IDK if you are in the FOSS community but I talk to people who just want to write software that is used for nothing other than some minor recognition from some geeks that matt

Point noted. I guess 'Europe' is a blanket term. This is different to the attitude in Germany & France I feel, but I may have a skewed view, mostly interacting with hackers when I am over there.

I love France. I arrived there internationally and didn't even have to fill out a form. They looked at my passport and stamped it. I do not recall them having a scanner for the passport. This was 2-3 years ago. But this is the way it has be
