There's already a specific term for the kind of API that rdio has: RPC. Remote Procedure Call. I mean, come on, how can you say you have REST (with R standing for Representational) if you have section called “Methods” in your API documentat

Once again the commenter referred to updating addons: “Firefox 5.0 (which will be out not long after 4.0) will have completely transparent addon updating - not even a dialog box.” Extensions you install using Firefox are kept locally, on Li

You will still update Firefox using your distro's upgrade mechanism and my guess is FX would gladly use a similar tool in Windows, should it get one in the future. @sp332 is referring to seamlessly updating the addons —extensions that you

What would be the appropriate usage of lightboxes? I really can't think of any besides the Facebook's "Before you submit."

Is there any advantage of using a lightbox vs a proper pop-up to present zoomed image or gallery? I, for one, much prefer the latter. You can continue with reading the article, you can use all the window management you already know and you

Well REST and RESTful are at this point mostly buzzwords. I'd be happy to just use “Correct-HTTP” instead of REST and “Correct-HTTP+hyperlinks” instead of RESTful, especially since no one actually uses REST or RESTful when describing things

I still like that analogy of REST to Plan-9's everything-behaves-like-file. It put it for me in an entirely different perspective. Sure enough, everything seems to have HTTP/RESTful API nowadays—maybe the total uniformity and transparency e

It seems to me that strongly-typed languages—functional or not—are going to make a strong comeback to web development. The current trend is to narrow down your webapp to a REST[ful] API. Any HTML you generate is only to bootstrap your clien
