Linux is not GPLv3 for a reason[1]. Not to mention it's only a kernel, not an entire OS. Basing your OS on a Linux kernel doesn't expose your other code to the GPL. Writing apps to run on a Linux system doesn't expose your co

Only the foreground app gets to put things in the touch bar. Excellent - I don't want some background process putting animated ads there. Beyond that, Apple can't possibly limit what the foreground app does. Distribute your tastel

In my experience, it obeys system volume. If I had the system muted before I shut down, it comes up silently. I keep my work laptop muted most times. On the weekend, I might actually need the sound for Skype. Monday morning is a rude start

The music and movie industries have changed tactics in that they go after the uploader/sender of a copyrighted work. And you would be correct that a simple "oh, sorry, I'll stop sharing that" would probably not suffice t

Indeed. I was hoping to elicit some clarification and left out some of my own: if JS, CSS & HTML are part of the GPL'd product, I'd agree that those parts qualify as being 'distributed' to users.

If you don't like the terms of the license, don't use code licensed under that license. You can't just download GPL'd code, disagree with the license, and continue using the code in a manner incompatible with that licens

If your custom plugin distributes its output, no. Generally speaking, the output of a GPL'd program is not also subject to the GPL (quines notwithstanding.)

"Another option may be to simply remove the offending code." This would remove their dependence upon GPL'd code, thus obviating applicability of the entire GPL, including section 5.

Apparently these notes are transliterated out of the author's own notes. It is mentioned that this is only for normal vectors, just not conveniently inline: "Note: just for vectors that only represent a direction and have length 1

I'm not seeing any indication of three numbers relating to length. I see a gap in information, not a leap from "3 numbers" to "length." What's missing is the definition of a vector: an item with direction and m

Does it follow that attempting to write code that is closer to functional style also improves the code's "tastefulness?" I'm under the impression that better functional code contains fewer branches.
