6400 [edit: kills] - http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Elite_Rating This isn't new knowledge. I remember reading about that goal and the number 6400 in a magazine, probably BBC Micro User. Right on Commander!

How about a pool in a rotating orbital space station? Just keep swimming forwards and slightly uphill :) Just don't lose the fake G or you could be the first person to drown in space.

I think levels of impurities and surface treatment of the metal may cause variation in whether something is considered suitable or not? For example, from [0] (which is declassified from 1974!) : "Titanium can react violently with stron

Yep. I wonder similar about the 13" MBP 2015 that I have, which has a swollen case. Not covered in last year's 13" recall, but looks like the same problem. The London Apple store disagree :(

LOL, ran it in private window. We have a single outward facing office IP address, and a few tabs were for things like bras and lingerie, so I'm now waiting to see if it affected others on the office network!

Not sure I agree. Just my anecdotal data of course, but I don't remember seeing an Apple II in UK schools in the 80s, but definitely BBC Micro/Master and a few Archimedes later. This was in 2-3 North West state schools, so there m

It's not a chemical catalyst, but the idea of muon-catalysed cold fusion has been around since the late 50s. I think I first read about it as a child in the appendix of Arthur C Clarke's "2061" novel. https://

Bigger also means they can put more sensors onboard (though you can do quite a bit with Estes). But even the Shuttle SRBs used parachute recovery, although without popping the nose cone. Biggest difference I can think of is that the SRBs ha

I think somewhere in this sci.space archive of rocketry usenet wonders is a quote along the lines of "Rocket science is just extreme plumbing". Cryogenics with powerful oxidizers is hard! https://yarchive.net/space

Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee :( I do get your point, and it's amazing it worked as well as it did. Space is tough, and things are likely to go wrong, just as they still do with civil aviation.

The space plane ideas for using a Sabre engine are fairly early stage designs, since the whole engine isn't even a working prototype yet. Of the various designs I've seen via wikipeda, Reaction Engines PR, and on-line forums, it s
