Ray Kurzweil's latest book about all this 'The Singularity is Near', was released in 2005. It has some compelling arguments is definitely worth a read if you are interesting in the longer term implications of computer technology and network

Nice snappy comment but what exactly do you mean? Do you think this sort of thing is impossible? Or that 2029 is way too early? Or are you just saying that speculating about what will happen more than 20 years in the future is folly?

Well I don't think any of your current cells can network your brain to say a google search by thought alone. To say the capacity for rapid brain-digital interfacing wouldn't have an impact on intelligence would be like saying the internet i

I think this article is entirely wrong. Trying to create another silicon valley is a bad idea full stop. The way to compete as a startup or a tech company is to utilize whatever natural advantages your location has. Be prepared to communica

How many page views per visitor? How many and which ad units are you showing? What is your content area? $1.5 for 1K banner views isn't to bad. But for 1K visitors viewing 4 pages each with 3 ad units then you'd have reason to be dissapoin

For me your demo had an ad appearing over the content on http://www.guitarsite.com and the ad blinked on and of a few times. Nice idea though especially for those looking to monetize a site without a lot of hassle, as long as the your ads

Imagine if the decision clearly disadvantaged one class of shareholders in favour of another. For example just taking all the assets of the company and distributing them to Class B shareholders, leaving the class A shares worthless. I do be

Look up 'Board of Directors' on wiki or 'Fiduciary Duty'. I don't think it makes classifications of shares moot. It still matters as to who who has the say as to what the correct strategy (to benefit all shareholders) is.

As far as I'm aware the board of any company is legally obliged to act in the interests of all shareholders. If an offer was big enough then each board member would probably have to defend their decision in court from angry shareholders if

I admit the volume isn't huge. Maybe 10K per day on the presidential nominations. So you might be able to average placing 1K on per day without destroying your odds. If you had even a 10% edge then that's $100 gain which most people wouldn'

People in this market aren't a random sample of people in the street. They are self-selected based on their willingness to bet money on the event. If they are poor predictors they will lose money on average and if they are good they will ga

OK fair enough. Maybe there was reasonable content later in the article. The fact is that a lot of us can't afford to invest the time it takes to get through this guy's life story in the hope of finding it. Ironically the very people that

Led Zep, Pink Floyd, the Stones, etc, could pull off an entire album of decent, coherent music, but I doubt any bands today can. The overall degree of talent is just completely different now, and I'm frankly shocked to hear even a single d
