Quick summary Dyson isn't so sure that global warming is cause by rising levels of CO2. Either way he doesn't see this as being a big problem as global warming would be a good thing for the world. He is more a Global Warming Embracer rather

Wonder how it compares with Quake for Pocket PC which I used to play about 4 years ago. Tricky to reproduce all the controls without many buttons but hopefully they'll come up with something. The accelerometer might come in handy.

I agree the Chinese are in a bit of a pickle what with holding so many US dollars. The fact that they are prepared to risk their investment by saying this is suggestive. In the end I think the US would still like to hold onto the USD as the

It's an interesting idea. Seems better than just gold. However I don't necessarily think it would be more stable. Changes in supply and demand of resources could have numerous unintended consequences.

I think you are focusing heavily on one particular model of an 'intelligence algorithm'. The model you are assuming sounds a lot like the type used for chess program. I played along with the 'culling algorithm' bit for the sake of convenien

It's possible though that this is analogous with running. An IQ test could be seem as a relative sprint whereas the business of solving genuinely complex problems might be a marathon. A 'sprinting test' may actually provide a rough gauge of

If you just mean hierarchies of threads then I know Drupal forums do this. But if you are looking for the voting and vote ordering then I'm not sure. I suspect you'd find some module in Drupal though.

Actually I'm just the opposite. I prefer hacking media and business to code. I'm more interested in how twitter will fight spam than how erlang can scale. Each to their own but I see this as a kind of 'Business for (ex)coders'.
