Presumably in this case people would make use of it to run all those games for the c64 that were written in basic. That's the whole point in case you aren't familiar with the situation. > There seems to be a huge number of anti-Apple re

I couldn't resist. The same person had another post of equal logical value in defence of the app store system. It seems like there are some people who see it as their role to defend Mac products and in particular the iPhone no matter what t

Investing in these bonds would represent a huge bet against medical breakthroughs. The worst case would be if people like Ray Kurzweil were right in saying that continuing breakthroughs could keep people indefinitely.

Just like a nice recursive call, the article you link to relies on a lot of information from the Soil Association which the parent article is refuting. I agree that organic is not the same as 'low externalities'. Pricing in all the external

It doesn't follow that increased popularity of organic food would necessarily lead to price increases in non-organic food. That's the great thing about having a free economy - you can chose to believe organic isn't worth the extra cost (as

The compulsory centralised app store model of the iPhone makes it an entirely new beast (apart from consoles). The difference is big enough to invalidate the comparison with Windows. Also the fact that their market share is still below belo

I think comparing 'Android Marketplace' with Apple's 'App Store' is somewhat comparing 'apples with oranges'. Android doesn't require all apps to go through their marketplace so you would expect less downloads per user. Android could flouri

I can see what you are saying in terms of the fundamental forces. However I wonder if it is possible to dynamically 'focus' the power. That would make things possible with microprocessors that would have been too tedious to perform manually

Actually it looks like it will sell for a bit less than an iPhone outright. 'Outright' is a word used by people in the free world to describe actual phone ownership as opposed to rental.

There are actually 3 HTC Android devices on sale Dream, Magic and Hero. Check ebay. Not sure what the deal is with your carriers though. But I'll be eagerly checking out the N900 as well.

You could be right. The only way to be certain of removing legal liability would be to allow people to install software through other means than the app store. Having the an app store as a kind of 'premium/safe' zone makes good sense - maki
