What does being employeed matter? Having a liveable salary and average lifestyle for all is more important.

Upvotes on an anti-capitalist comment on HN?!? Why I never.... To all the 'gracious employers': we are sick of working for pennies while you peddle psychobabble to get us to work harder. The problem is our exploitation. The end.

I've always used Tomorrow Night and always will. The other ones try too hard and use strange colors I never see anywhere else (esp. solarized)

Stop applying to these jobs. People need to stand up for themselves (in the absence of unions) and refuse to do stupid activities like this.

I'd like to know how this is 'cheating'. The questions are quite simply memorization problems as the difficulty increases especially. You don't have to disclose you've seen a problem before. These types of interview

This is interesting! Reminds me of something I made for an operating systems course. Mine was called ctags and allowed you to tag processes. First it was implemented as a lkm, then was reimplemented inside the kernel as an additional field

Why not find a company that doesn't have these ridiculous interviews? I find a huge number of these require a full day of interviewing, and very few actually pay you for it. I just stopped going for the Big 4. Working at these places s

Something like this can be (could be?) done with a BlackBerry 10 application. I developed a hackernews client with a python backend and Qt QML frontend. Didn't involve embedding the interpreter as BB10 shipped with python3.2 https:&#x

The whole wiki that this leak released is full of the most basic configuration options for vim/VS etc. They have version control tutorials. They can't be hiring pros.

Yeah, this is pretty much what I was thinking. I've already applied for a few internships for this summer but I don't know. If I don't find anything else I'll stick with this at least until the fall semester. I enjoy thi

The features demostrated here are almost the exact ones I'm looking to do in Vim (I've only been using for a few months) and the way they describe them here makes them so simple. I hope this continues to mature!

This looks really nice. I sadly don't have an iOS device to test this, I wonder if there's something similar for android. One thing that would be neat which I saw in a BlackBerry 10 app I briefly used: automatic class checkin base

https://plasma-mobile.org/nexus-5/ kind of hard to find but here's how one can actually use it. Any info on the network side of things?

Are you looking for interns this summer at all? I applied for your application developer position anyway, but I would be a better fit for an intern position if one becomes available

Yes, a capitalist venture program is a communist plot. Is this a joke or what? These things are only being promoted by YC because in the long run they are good for the capitalists.

No one has mentioned Ivan Illich's Deschooling Society yet? I obviously haven't read Bryan Caplan's book that's discussed in this article, but from the looks of it, none of his ideas are new. They've been explored b

Wow. I've been wondering why an ereader like this didn't already exist. Gets rid of all the flashiness and chrome and colour. I hate ereader apps because they have so much going on, finally one figures it out. Well done.

Why are people on HN actually supporting this? Facebook built a plane to beam its horrible timesink to even more people. Facebook is not a good thing. No company "gives things away" out of the good of their heart. They built a PLA

You must not talk to many leaf fans... They think they have a shot at the cup every single year. While I agree Mike Babcock is a great coach, he won't save them in 1 season. Typical Maple Leafs fan optimism. They never give up hope. Se
