I used to spend quite a bit of time on the #emacs Freenode IRC channel, but then discovered Discworld MUD, which is like #emacs on steroids: more NPCs (though less advanced ones), more puns (not a fan of those personally, but they create an

When browsing static/non-animated web pages, sometimes I get a feeling that the developers wanted to draw, had to make a website instead, and tried to combine those two, so users are then forced to appreciate their art. But with animat

Is it supposed to work in Firefox? I've allowed all the scripts to run in FF 78.7, but there's an empty screen after pressing "play". There's a lot of errors in the web browser console though, mostly CORS ones. And

Are you familiar with web directories (DMOZ [1] and others [2])? This looks like one, and perhaps others can be used to borrow ideas (hierarchical structure, for instrance) for future development. [1] https://www.dmoz-odp.org

I was under the impression that dynamic microphones are much more suitable for non-studio settings, where echoes and other noises happen, as well as for regular speech, not music (and that they are actually used on radio stations). And XLR

I ended up setting a web interface (converse.js) primarily for use with iOS. No push notifications with it, but also heard that iOS native clients tend to crash and lose messages, and apparently can't run in the background.

Non-technical people (friends and family) seem to be fairly comfortable using Conversations on their smartphones, and converse.js seems quite user-friendly in a web browser. But it indeed doesn't always work, and there are people with

I didn't consider embedded CPUs (I guess that's about an embedded EPYC, not a server one), those look neat. But there's no official ECC support (i.e., it's similar to Ryzen CPUs), is there? Edit: as detaro mentioned in t

I prefer to pick PSU and fans (for both CPU and chassis) that can handle it comfortably (preferably while staying silent and with some reserve) with maximum TDP in mind, and given that I don't need that many cores or high clock speed e

I've considered using an AMD CPU instead of Intel's Xeon on the primary desktop computer, but even low-end Ryzen Threadripper CPUs have TDP of 180W, which is a bit higher than I'd like. And though ECC is not disabled in Ryzen
