Dropbox works really well with KP and I used it for years. The problem was that I ended up with more devices than Dropbox supported for free so I switched to Syncthing. If you only have three devices use Dropbox.

This is a perfect example of how an algorithm will fail. I suppose someone could argue that your comment isn't negative (or negative enough to warrant de-boosting).

I paused at the same line. This told me that the author has an agenda. A more fair statement might be that the interest rates are less meaningful than they could be but meaningless? No way.

Technically speaking, you can do this. For example you could create a private VC firm and convince people to give you their money. You could then "loan" that money to a start-up. That start-up would then pay its employees with

Ex-cons have a tough time getting jobs and this can help lead to recidivism. It seems like programming would be a great way to keep felons from going back to prison. Getting paid to WFH on an open source project would be low risk.

> Georgia Guidestones I had never heard about this before. What an odd tale. It's a real-life story of people falling into FUD over something pretty innocuous.

As we've seen with Alex Jones even free speech is not absolute (for the record I agree with the rulings against Jones). If the code is designed to facilitate illegal activity I can see how that could be shut down by the government.

I think you have a good point. In regard to movies, there's an additional explanation: so many families have home theaters with large flat screen tvs. Cinemas have to compete with that and they do so by ramping up the experience, whi

Agreed. The author's next blog should be about eliminating his basic sensory need for sex.

The notion of money is very complex and there are multiple schools of thought but here's one way to look at it: Say you give me a donkey and I give you an "IOU - one donkey or equivalent". That IOU represents my debt to you.

Similarly, a lot of the dairy desserts sold by fast food in the U.S. isn't considered ice cream. E.g. nothing sold by Dairy Queen can be called ice cream.

That article clearly states that Biden's actions aren't expected to have much effect on oil production for ten years.

Even if I agreed with all your points (which I don't) why would the US government switch to BTC if that limited what the Fed could do? This is a debilitating flaw of BTC. I suppose if a vast majority of Americans demanded a switch to

Wouldn't this be balanced out by the reduced lead in the environment? There is a fairly strong argument that removing lead has lead to the decrease in crime (due to less development damage).

I've never felt like the rotation of the lead was an issue for me (except for the few times the lead broke). Do you (and others) do a lot of drawing?

That was fun. I don't use anything except mechanical pencils but none of those really grabbed me and I generally love gadgets. For some reason I don't like the bouncy feel of the spring-protected tips and the only time I break l

I don't think this is a modern phenomenon. Certainly it was the younger generation that was against the war in Vietnam. It would be interesting to see polls from the Korean War and World War I. My guess is that we'd see a simila

You bring up a good point and there's possibly an additional, simpler, effect: producers of big-budget films pay for good reviews, both by critics and by IMDb users.

I'd add one more differentiation. "Nice" doesn't require much effort but "kind" does. Being kind might require some sacrifice. Maybe it's voting against the zoning law that will increase your property va

I think this group is afraid of hyperinflation, which is almost always caused by governments printing too much money. (And, if we're honest, hyperinflation is a scary situation.) The problem is that they then extrapolate and decide t

I wonder if the growing number of WFH jobs would help alleviate this. I'm a software engineer who mostly works from home. We sell (mostly) support for OSS. This seems like a situation where an ex-con might have an opportunity.

Gropius moved to America and taught at Harvard for a while. For those interested, his house is now a museum. Worth visiting: https://www.historicnewengland.org/property/gropius-house/
