It's a bit obvious, right? Or maybe I'm the only person that had a pin box toy as a kid ( https://www.fatbraintoys.com/toy_companies/toysmith/classic_... ). Nine Inch Nails also did this: https:/&#x

My thoughts as well. This is why I feel some people will never "let" AI happen. They want 100% certainty. Neural nets scare them. Despite the fact that real , human intelligence carries no certainty. You either have intellige

How does Bonobos get around the fact that you're just getting a similar style, and not tailored pants? The biggest issue with buying mass produced clothing online, is that two pairs of the identical style have wildly different fits

Yeah, but Bonobos isn't Gucci. And I wouldn't put them near the same category as other high end brands. The people that buy Bonobos are more likely to be people that, if driving somewhere to try something on, want to bring somet

I used to be on the fence. I knew I hated journald with a passion. But for systemd, the last straw was trying to mount a USB drive one day. I would do "mount", and nothing was mounted. I looked through the logs and noticed it

I don't think that's the case here at all. You're talking about people that are both savvy enough to have a savings account and familiar enough with investments to know that a savings account is bad compared to other inv

yep. As a Perl 5 dev, it always frustrated me that Perl 6 was around. It made it real easy for people to throw rocks at. "Oh look, Perl is dead because Perl 6 is not released." Never mind the fact that Perl 5 continued to be u

Too late for what? There is a difference between relevant and trendy. Perl, in many cases, is extremely modern. The Unicode support of Perl 5 is nothing short of state-of-the-art. CPAN is still an amazing resource. The web and OO frame

yes. I've felt this way lately. The overall quality of Amazon has gone downhill sharply. It's resembling eBay or even Craigslist today. I was considering getting Prime a few days back when it was on sale. But I remembered tha

I'm far from loving any issue tracker. That said, I've used RT (holy shit no), Pivotal Tracker (drinks too heavily from the dynamic DOM/JS koolaid, sucking up all RAM and CPU in the known universe), and JIRA. I'd take J

if you're aiming for high production values that you might find in a feature length film, then yeah. But you can find things on YouTube that are just a camera and a guy, that qualify as being a "short". Depends on what you

uh. This just means you end up with inverted PHP. Instead of PHP, where you have a Perl-ish language generating HTML, you now have JS generating HTML. You lose 100% of the benefit of React, which is the virtual DOM. You can literally us

A Lisp Machine today would be an anachronism. Hardware type tagging could be useful. But list efficiency and manipulation would likely be futile. Today, cache is king. Which means, linked lists are out. CAR/CDR? Let's not. T

These are some pretty awful scripts, to be honest. Use Unison ( https://www.cis.upenn.edu/~bcpierce/unison/ ). Syncing is much more dangerous and difficult than people assume.
