You are right, it is dual core. I forget the mobile variants can be dual core. *4 virtual cores :p

I have a 6 year old battery in my 2011 Macbook Air and it seems to handle the peak load of my quad core i7 just fine.

Yes, and I think this is a common strategy in the CPU manufacturing world. The companies developing and testing software for these devices probably don't realize that the performance of their software will start to degrade in 18 months

I didn't even notice that it was in use on the splash image. I thought the terminal was just setting on top of another app window.

Ever since Lytro made a light field camera I have been waiting for a light field display. It seems odd that it is being developed commercially in a compact AR device rather than a TV sized display.

We often have to rebase our feature branches before they can be merged, so changing the history is common and force pushes are inevitable. As a rule I don't base any work on top of unmerged feature branches, because there is no expecta

GitLab makes it really easy to see what changed between commits while reviewing a merge request. Parts of the diff that are identical to the upstream branch are automatically ignored, and you can view a diff between of last two pushes. htt

That article is from 2014, the golden age of TurboLinks. As far as I can tell they are not using it on their main site or any of their white labeled sites anymore. https://github.com/shopify-graveyard/turbolinks/

GitLab removed TurboLinks from their site not that long ago. It was the source of a lot of bugs, crufty code, and flakey tests. If you have any JavaScript that modifies the DOM or ever plan to don’t use TurboLinks.

I read the paper, but wasn’t immediately convinced it wasn’t related to depth. Once I looked at the illustration for the 3rd experiment [0] it was obviously unrelated to depth. [0]: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/core/lw&

It sounds like it speeds up the specific computations involved in simulating the inverse of a circuit. I imagine the speed of software simulations greatly inhibits their research.

I have had about 10 jobs in my life. About half of them were specific to my career. I have found that I am happier building things that the author might consider "bullshit" (relative to my interests) compared to working on things

I have been working on an alternative to Postman and Curl with a modern terminal interface. The idea isn't fully fleshed out yet, but I really like using it when I am designing an API. It forces me to think about discoverability and en
