Eh, personally I prefer eight rats in a trenchcoat to the kind of sclerotic bureaucracy that seems to dominate most midsized companies. I might be confused about why the rats are doing different things, but at least they're doing thing

Having been badly bitten by the timestamp equivalent of eating gum you scraped off the bottom of a desk just let me add that there is an implicit "if your time source is good/non-adversarial" assumption here. Friends don'

Wow. I had to figure all of this out a few years ago and would have really benefitted from the author's clear, precise take. This is going into the onboarding docs for my team tomorrow morning.

Worth noting that "the man" may instead mean police/government/etc, usually with negative connotations. So context may make this less appropriate as a synonym than "righteous dude" as mentioned above.

Leaded gas is still not banned today. I have a car which only consumes leaded race gas and while it is surely expensive it is definitely not illegal.

Public defenders would need resources akin to or larger than the prosecutor's office in order to take on this role. I don't know that there has ever been a time in America where the public cared more about defending the wrongly ac

When this is all settled I suspect we're going to find ourselves the drivers of a chariot, with each horse being an external and artificial mind given direction by our evolved needs.

Go as a language is pretty darn good. Go as a runtime is a never-ending pile of problems mostly stemming from the authors' determination to fight the operating system for concurrency.
