I am feeling this way a lot lately. There is a bill to mandate a minimum wage specifically for school teachers at the federal level. Teachers need higher pay, but a federal mandate isn't the solution.

During COVID, because of costs, we drastically cut down on our beef consumption. Historically, we have bought 1/2 cows but haven't in some time. I hadn't even looked into it because I assumed the costs would be very high. Loc

I don't know that I'd ever work in an office again. I've found that the calm and focus of working from home is unmatched. I do like going into the office for meetings and brainstorming/mentoring sessions, but if I'm

The AS/400 OS is one of the most arcane systems I've ever used. Power users can do some incredible things, but I think long-term use results in strange things.

If you enjoy small, self-contained games, obviously check out Vampire Survivors as a recent phenom, but SokPop collective on Itch and Steam puts out a new game each month and while many of them are barely passable, some are truly great, esp

I wonder what the feeling of the people in e.g. China or Russia is right now regarding peace. Is it hopelessness? Nationalism? Fatalism? Foolish thinking, but I was hoping as a species we were past petty wars.

For someone who doesn't know, it's impossible. But being a patient advocate has a moral hazard that insurance companies (who provide them now) aren't equipped to deal with.

Most primaries are useless. Having someone who works in healthcare in your family is of incredible value, and the general advice is to always see a specialist. We could likely do away with primary doctors in the US. We seem to be on that ro

It might sound boring, but most charities and NPOs need very basic web help. Getting a site online + hosting it for a year is in the realm of ~$120, but actually finding the time to do that is a lot of work.

I have a lot of friends in the UK, and my perception 15 years ago was that it was a country in decline. There was a general feeling of malaise, with not many hopeful for the future. Has only gotten worse, it seems.
