Having managed myself multiple projects using various JPA implementations I think JPA is great for relational database driven applications. Some of my projects contained 150+ tables. I always use a combination of JPA and JDBC. And everythin

Thanks for the article. This explains a lot. Not many companies would be able to survive so much organisational expetimentation.

Doesn't matter if you use kubernetes. If the system has not been designed for scale-out you will ultimately lose. K8s is just a container orchestrator. And containers are just virtual machines.

Scale up vs. Scale out. Those require different architectural considerations. E.g. with scale out your chache has to work suddenly in a distributed way. And as we all know scale-up is expensive, can quickly become very expensive, and more i

Great effort! But your docker files are not really related to the source code. Your Dockerfile expects a prebuilt binary, and your docker-compose file a pre-built image from a container-registry (usually Dockerhub). It would be better to do

This looks solid. And k8s makes total sense, since you are avoiding vendor lock-in. I'm just wondering why you don't also run your managed services in k8s?

Looking through the comments, I think it would be great if someone can bundle all of this into a product which automatically applies security uodates and offers some form of visual dashboard to see the status of the system, errors, and logs

I run VSCode and Eclipse Theia in Docker containers and access them via browser. Depending on what I do I start either with a Java, Node, or Python container.
