PowerPoint Paste with source formatting or theme, I can't recall the exact name right now, rules. It means being able to mooch slides from any file and use them with no real fuss. An alternative is to turn the slide into a bitmap.

My experience is the same. I only owned one Intel MacBook Pro. Was the only one I needed thankfully. Missed the whole port reduction and power bar mess. I love my M1 Air. It is the first general purpose computing hardware that felt like

This effort is fantastic! I just ignore the drama and appreciate being able to learn something about the intense Apple environment.

My 2010 i7 MBP would do that under heavy loads. All aluminum body, with fans, and when that CPU really had to work it put out a lot of heat. Compiling gcc multi thread a few times would be enough.

Indeed. You know I decided to take my old note 8 for a test drive as a PC of sorts. Went ahead and purchased one of those USB 3 port bricks so I could hook up a nice display, keyboard, mouse, removable storage. Samsung Dex popped up and it

Well, perhaps we are not so far apart on this. Your news bolsters the "soon" in my comment above. I am quite happy to be proven wrong.

I agree with you about Apple hardware, BTW. Fact is, large numbers of people will just end up on Windows 11 :(

Is it this part? >Linux just is not going to be the general answer for ordinary people. It so, I hear you. A decade or more ago, I had Ubuntu running as a general use machine for family and friends use. It seemed almost there back then,

I don't know about that. Or at least, I won't say they are bad There are sets of deep roots in play here. Phrasing struggles are rooted in the differences in these systems, and unless we have spent time in each, struggle seems li

It is nice when that happens. Of course, you are welcome. If you don't mind sharing your take, what firmed up, I would read it with great interest!

All of us having this discussion are outliers. The things we talk about here which annoy us are for the much larger set of people who need them! Put another way, it is all about the set of us who cannot really participate in this discussion

If so, they are executing it badly. As for every executable being tagged, that is not required. People can build binaries with open tools and other people can run them. A hash gets created for Apple to play same or different with binaries

THIS! Back when I was new to all of this, the idea of people evaluating their computing environment seemed crazy! Who does that? Almost nobody by percentage, but making sure any of us CAN is where the real value is.

Oh sort of. That is for sure a thing, but not THE thing. I would argue people are being tugged in that direction more than it being simply better. You can bet when people start to get to work building things --all sorts of things, not just

That is not the same thing If I were you, I would relax. At least you are not being shoved onto Win 11. And then think about that. Seriously. I did. Have a few times off and on over the years as we sink into this mess. I bet you find an

I agree and want to emphasize a few things: 1. Most users are not capable of using general purpose computing technology in a wild, networked environment safely. 2. Too many people who matter to ignore insist, "something must be done.

I am not do sure, though I feel the idea is compelling enough to warrant exploration! Text adventure games are fun and I enjoy them a few times per year. I need to mention "Eaten By a Grue" podcast. Kay Savitz (sp?) and Kerringto

Oh wow! That thing is fantastic! It is Sony doing what it does best; namely, making great consumer electronics. I want one. Those big dials are super fun to use by all appearances too.

We just went back to one. For a number of years we let a phone do this job. Then on one super rough day, both my wife and I were just drained! We hit the bed and were gone, snoozing hard. Well, neither of us managed to have a phone charge

Yes, I did not mean to imply otherwise. The way I have always come to understand this boils down to what modulation actually is. DC is not modulation. Anything above DC can be, or maybe technically is and must be managed or accounted for.

Agreed. I will start lists and notes from 0, and have dropped a few hex expressions in my time. Sometimes I am in an odd frame of mind and maybe am just signaling that to see what others may do or say.

It can carry frequencies much closer to DC. The above mentioned FM upgrade to VHS, called HI-Fi VHS I believe, had excellent audio recording capabilities. I used it to archive albums back in the day, and when I play some of the warped ones
