Mozilla - that's a perfect example! Apple and DRM is interesting. They're pretty expressly against it across rich media content. Their video services are crippled with such awful restrictions due to studio pressure. iOS appears DRM heavy to

Well, had they gone out of business, all of those jobs would have evaporated. It's not a free pass - it's an organizational restructuring. No business would be crucified for killing an unprofitable division; this happened to be an interesti

A 12-column grid lets you easily mix 3-colum and 4-column layouts. A 16-column grid does not. [edit] Essentially it's more expressive. Another commenter correctly mentioned that it could have the same advantages above for a responsive desig

Interesting! The language on the MBP specs says "Combined headphone/line in", whereas the MBA specs say "Headphone port". But you are correct: my headphones register as an audio input on the Macbook Air. I wonder if it's a very specific exc

The Macbook Air does not have a combo port (currently). Just a headphone jack. I used dedicated to mean "includes specific hardware to handle this use case". Sorry for the ambiguity. The consumer product line continues to have fewer fine-gr

Sounds like a bug. I can't reproduce it on my Air, and it appears other commenters have difficulty reproducing it as well. The OP/commenters experiencing the issue should probably file a Radar.

He even gets basic facts incorrect. The author assumes his Macbook Pro doesn't have a dedicated audio input. It does. Every Macbook Pro does. (The Macbook Air is the only Mac shipping without a built-in audio input). Really, what I see is a

"Free" is the perception though. Nobody is arguing the merits of a cable subscription. The content is already piped into his house per a contract he signed, so it's there and it's "free". There is, however, no sum of money - no matter how l

I'd pay top-dollar to rent a movie while it's still in theaters (especially in lieu of a low-quality, pirated option). If the rental price decreases as the film leaves theaters, they could still maintain a strong sense of the value of their

I've definitely gone back and forth with that, and felt the exact same way when I learned Python. And I agree - semantic whitespace is a really great feature that makes Python simpler in a lot of ways. Where I start to like it less is when

Floats are printed without rounding Isn't that a good thing? I like knowing the real value I'm passing around. It does round...eventually (at 14 decimal places or so). You can write x = foo unless foo but not x = foo if ! foo This is in

This is super important. Use Typekit, or another font that allows embedding (Lost Type Co-Op is great http://losttype.com/browse ). If it's not "Knockout", I'd love to know what it actually is. Always need more good fonts.
