No, emojis are incredibly expressive and enrich all forms of writing. I'm excited to see this style of communication penetrate more spaces :slightly-smiling-face:. Edit: The emoji I added to the above message was stripped by HN's

I'm as tired of marketing jargon as the next person, but what isn't clear about this? It's a simple statement, encouraging you to think of the brand and its relationship to people and culture, and all the different groups who

I can’t think of many (any?) other large tech companies that stuck with Rails at scale. The CEO being a core Rails member makes this an edge case, like Basecamp.

It’s sad that this arrogant criticism of the work involved in maintaining a popular OSS package is the top comment.

Just pick a random place to start, read some stuff, and then take a guess as to which direction to go in next, based on what's probably a good next thing to read. Then keep repeating the process over and over again.

I think your whole premise here is, North American speed limits would go up if only we had enough cars that felt good at higher speeds? If so, I don't think automotive performance and lack of "smooth feel" at high speed are t

It’s more of a sizing / build shape thing that keeps some amount of separation in product lines. I wonder if we can come up with better, non-gendered names for common body builds.

Yeah, those are good examples, along with Java or .Net or even PHP. There’s an understanding that a developer can open a file from the source code tree, look at which includes are in scope, which methods are being used, and follow the API d

Counterpoint: Rails is not efficient for new developers who need to get up to speed on it. Other tools are more straightforward to onboard devs; just follow the API docs and read the code. With Rails you need Rails experts.

Yeah, they could have tracked the arguably fascinating series of digital formats, from P2P low bitrate mp3, lossless WAV, FLAC, M4A and whatever the big streaming players are using these days. Not to mention the wild and wooly world of wire

So then does the argument come down to a question of bitrate? Can we push digital projections beyond the point of human visual discernment, like we have with audio?

The analogy of seeing an original painting in a gallery vs. looking at a print is appealing, however, I can't help think that we're comparing apples and oranges here: paintings are 3d objects and prints are 2d reproductions. All i
