I take your point as well. I guess I'm coming at this as a novice with a recent interest in compilers. I was working through a tutorial series for writing a compiler in Go, but it got frustrating when I realized the author's examp

It's well written. It's clever. The comments style does a great job of explaining the concepts. My only gripe is, although translating one high level language (lisp) to another (c) is technically a compiler, in practice most peo

Sure, they've done it before. But if it's Embrace/Extend/Extinguish, why did they wait for so long to do this? What is it about Linux in 2016 that makes it a different threat to them than it was 5, 10, 15, 20 or 24 years

This is good news for developers with Macs, and it has nothing to do with an option to switch platforms. By doing this, Microsoft are legitimising bash as an OS feature for "developers who like unix". This has two effects on Apple

Deduction should make it pretty simple. There are a large number of phones out that law agencies want hacked. If the FBI completely stops asking for assistance, Apple can consider the exploit still active.

CDs: I haven't logged into my Japanese iTunes account in a few years, but at the time there wasn't much to choose from. I assume some draconian local licensing deals keeping most stuff out, but I don't know for sure. Newspape

Nice. I know it would be tricky, but it would be extra awesome if it could factor in shipping / customs fees as well. Otherwise you're not telling me if I'm really coming out ahead.

I treat each unit test as an individual assertion on the logic of the program. I find using a <methodName>_<Conditions>_Expectations syntax documents the intent very well. E.g: testCalculateGrade_scoreOver85_returnsAnA()

Nobody buys the Fed's story. It's clear that it was never about a specific phone and only about setting a precedent. Which is all well and good, but it begs the question why did they back out now? Public opinion was divided from

I mostly agree with the thoughts on testing, and agree with the principle that unit test overkill is not constructive. I don't think 100% control path coverage is hard to achieve though. If done correctly, it should not require an exce

That's a good point, I didn't think of that. I suppose there is a semantic difference between content that has been taken down globally for DMCA infringement, and content that is blocked in a particular region.

This could be really useful. If this was done by other big content sites (Youtube for example) then a search bot could build up an index of banned resources. A repository of burned books.

This is very Nintendo. They have always built the hardware first, and then designed the games around that second. The Super Famicom had advanced graphics (including Mode 7) and sound, and the games showcased that. Nintendo 64 had that ama
