I believe the expectation is that congress will officially deallocate spending that was deemed wasteful. We shall see.

I think we’re arguing semantics at this point. The leaders of the agencies where actions are taking place are cooperating (or not) with DOGE’s recommendations and executing at their discretion (which may be to accept the full recommendation

Fidelity saying (in 2023) that X isn't worth what Elon paid for it does not mean it’s not making money and building product (in 2025). Allegedly it’s worth 44B again (:

I was speaking rhetorically. I don't mean to imply there’s only one i stance of swearing. Anyway that’s not even the point. We know Theo is abrasive. It also makes good security. Weird to complain about “the community” on a page evange

Nothing concerns me less than a quickly remedied mistake. PS: at many time’s I’ve been successful using the “flip every breaker” strategy. A well designed oxygen machine has a battery and a fridge can tolerate a brief power outage.

Sure we all know _why_. The question is whether, by the time the money gets to where it needs to go, it was an efficient use of $$. If the government (of all things holy in our society) can’t stop itself from getting royally ripped off when

And yet an off the shelf drug purchased by medicaid is often hundreds of times more expensive than when retail buys it. Something is happening and people taking their cut aren’t dumb enough to have it appear as top end administrative cost.

Twitter has turned an incredible profit and launched an AI assistant since almost the entire user base claimed that Elon was going to run the company into the ground.

Which is why a discussion on this topic at such a high level isn't really productive. You need to look at each line item and ask whether it’s fraud/waste/abuse and then make a call. That is exactly what DOGE is doing. If you

I did read the page in question… You talk like it would be any different with the linux kernel. A CoC doesn’t govern whether you’re entitled to a productive discussion with the big maintainer. Theo swearing at one person cannot be extrapola

They aren’t just talking about personnel. And I disagree that 3% isn’t meaningful. And cutting workforce isn’t just about saving money on headcount.

Not that I don’t believe you, but how does that even happen?! And if it was truly recruiter error, wouldn’t any reasonable hiring manager get it sorted and reschedule?

I think this is hard to discuss because if you disagree with the premise that the cuts are targeting “fraud waste and abuse” then you’re already talking past the other side. In order to have a productive discussion you need to defend the sp

The entire premise is to cut wasteful, corrupt, and ineffective spending. I’m sure nobody will agree with every single line item cut, but generally throwing money away on ineffective and fraudulent spend isn’t contributing to wealth trans

Not to mention that in the general case it seems desirable that a community can exist without needing a CoC. Being disappointed that some community out there is doing just fine without CoC is a /really weird/ point to make in a

The story is good. My experience, however, has been almost the exact opposite. It’s not that 90% is a no-brainer and 10% is fumbling around. It’s that 90% is fumbling around and 10% is no-brainer. In other words, how many people have worked

No it’s not. I am free to publish whatever my crazy mind can cook up. The government’s policy on what an acceptable bar for “take it seriously” is doesn’t change that.

That is so not the point. The point of 2+2=5 is that white science is bad and needs to be dismantled because it’s structurally racist.
