I think it's great. Having organization (so you can minimize dupes and easily sort through items) would be a great next project and would keep the utility high. Per the other post, i think you could do a little bit to make it an interesting

Why not just use boot camp? That way he doesn't pay the VM performance penalty when doing development...

Totally agree. There is a huge cost to supporting hardware combinations and a huge perception problem that it generates (what if mac osx takes 3 seconds longer to resume on a given hardware platform? what impact does that have on their imag
