The idea of treading water, 50 meters down, in the middle of the ocean, in pitch black, makes me so anxious just sitting on my couch thinking about it...I couldn’t imagine just...sitting there, knowing that in every direction it effectively

I’m a massive fan of traditional bulletin board style forums (like vanilla, phpbb style). Even tried launching one last year to compliment the temporal qualities of hacker news. Had decent initial engagement on it but it eventually faded, i

You definitely are being hyperbolic here. There's no world where the only jobs available are food delivery, even in the fucked up world of Covid.

I haven't physically seen a doordash driver since covid started, they just leave it at my door. I also don't want to exchange paper money with people at this point in time. The odds of DoorDash lying about tip distribution are bas

As far as I'm aware, no one is forced to drive for these companies. I very much get your point, but in a fully opt-in scenario, it's hard to feel like I'm compromising my ethics by ordering cheeseburgers in an app.

So I REALLY don’t mean this to be cynical, but: other than this clearly being a beautiful product, and I guess the simple fact that it’s just not a Google product, what exactly does this bring to the table that Google slides doesn’t already

So that’s the thing: a standup isn’t for discussing what you’re doing, it’s to ensure that things are on track (which the default assumption is they are) and a forum for surfacing blockers/impediments to sort out offline. Assuming you

I very much agree. The whole situation is just crossing fingers and hoping things will go away as a replacement for pragmatism in the face of no good options. Complete failure of leadership at every single level.
