The codebase is a bit of a horror, though, of the old "PHP+SQL+HTML mixed in a blender" variety. I went in to make a few mods at one point and it was pretty scary.

I think you're implying that I'm stating the obvious here, but, almost every time one of these sunsetting announcements comes out, it's written as if the company just recently decided this was genuinely the best move for ever

Thanks for the feedback - I updated it to make that available for preview. I would recommend checking out Egghead.io if you haven't. They've got a lot of courses covering a range of stuff. Specifically, if you want to get into Red

Here's the original HN post when Dropbox acquired Hackpad: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7604809 1104 days ago -- about 3 years and a week. Something makes me think this had been planned for a while.

The course relies on Create React App, and does not delve into deploying to production. CRA does have a "build" command (npm run build) so you can use it to generate files suitable for deployment.

I try to think of the "market" as a pond. The customers are the fish. If you manage to catch a few fish, but can't hold on to them because your product isn't ready yet, it's not the end of the world. At that point,

Agree with the others, it doesn't have to be the wife who stays home. Obviously every family is different, the spouses have different goals and skillsets, etc -- but the decision can certainly be made along goal + skillset lines rather

It's interesting that there aren't more companies doing 30-35hr weeks. With the amount of sentiment like this on HN alone, I'm surprised there aren't engineers going out and starting shorter-work-week companies. I know o

This is true, and also, when searching the app store the star ratings displayed next to each app are based on the "current version", so if an app is recently released it might say "0 reviews" even though it previously ha

Posting to multiple relevant sites and social networks has helped my blog to grow. That, combined with a mailing list that I send each post to (weekly-ish), helps drive traffic. Some of the mailing list subscribers share it too. I usually s

Remote whiteboarding is definitely a pain. There are a ton of online whiteboard apps, but it's hard to find a good one (know of any?). Then there's the problem that drawing with a mouse is difficult. It's hard to quickly expr
