Is the Scala language finally stable? I looked at it and discarded it multiple times over the last decade because every significant language revision required changing source code.

This was touched on above in slightly different terms, but I'm going to echo it because I see it in the answers here. You were raised differently by your parents. You are missing some basic social skills to interact with other people i

If you only have W2 income and take the standard deduction, 99% of what you need to know they know. Only changes like new address, dependent, etc would really be relevant.

Setting aside the security issues (legion!) and the implementation issues (manageable but hard!) you have to think about the maintainability of the codebase. Retrofitting schema changes into a codebase full of SQL statements fucking sucks.

It's an admirable sentiment, but there's a problem here. You can't wield that scalpel, and neither can I. Only the board and RMS can, and they've already demonstrated they won't. The only way to get wholesale leader

I don't think so. Machine learning is generally poorly suited to dealing with an intelligent adaptive adversary capable of an unpredictable universe of inputs.

Gutenberg's place in history is as the man who ushered in the printing press and commodity publishing in the west. Whether or not he was the first ever to do it isn't relevant to that history, but I do think knowing that other peo

Java never supported single letter options, which is why any other meta-character is necessary at all. ls -la == ls -l -a, but then you can't ls -all because it's the same, you need --all (or +all). Java supports -cp or -classpath

The implementation-specific compression doesn't store deltas or diffs, it stores unique blocks of text. Git allows for shallow clones, which would be impossible if the protocol or implementation were based solely around diffs.

if your filesystem was copy on write and implemented snapshot semantics internally (like WAFL for example, over 20 years old now), then the second snapshot would not take 100MB, it would just cost the metadata. A commit is a snapshot of a t

The problem isn't that all this happened, or maybe that is the problem, the problem is that the future of Perl was very confusing for a very long time. Python 3 was announced in 2006, committed to as the future in 2008, and the last si

nil is just the empty value for slices maps pointers interfaces functions and channels. the only slightly confusing part is that interface objects are proxies that wrap a pointer and a type, so a nil pointer inside an interface is non-nil.

In inheritance OOP languages, interfaces are an implementation detail of the class. In Golang, they are proxies. You have to think about them differently. Also I agree with the other commenter that all this verbosity isn't very idiomat

Yes but coming from a go or rust neophyte to trusting that you've installed correctly from source is probably a higher bar than knowing that you've run a container correctly.
