   I wonder what would have happened if they had gone the typical silicon valley VC route. Probably something less customer friendly with more invasive tracking, in order to "properly monetize their userbase".

   If I'm not mistaken, the pipeline is Rust -> MIR -> LLVM -> Binary. The GCC backend probably uses MIR, which is simpler than Rust itself.

   Flatpak offers sandboxing, but I think it's mostly meant for applications, not for development tools (where you often need to access your keys anyways).
