2017 is when Stylo first shipped by default in Firefox. It's not like everything has rotted since then!

As a Firefox developer, I'm not sure why we'd want to do that. Forking isn't cheap if you want to make significant changes to that fork. We'd be better off staying with Gecko. (Oh, and we're still all-in on Gecko)

False. (I am a Mozilla employee) This is what I know about what happened there: There were two enterprise IT teams with similar duties but different purviews. When management was deciding on layoffs, they decided to unify those two teams. U

This is correct. These binaries are downloaded from specific update servers. EDIT: I stand corrected thanks to a colleague on the media team: the EME CDM update servers are known Google servers.

The thesis of this article is pure hyperbole. “Oh noes, one of the RS-25s failed, the whole program is a failure!”

Sure, but that just requires them to finish migrating the UI; it does not require yet another UI overhaul. (And in fact, the latter is probably worse for completing the migration!)

This isn’t exactly an apples-to-apples comparison. Mozilla has a lot of security concerns with respect to Google’s Fugu efforts.

Indeed. This is very true, but I've become exhausted from repeating it ad infinitum. Six+ years is a long time in tech, and yet we're still talking about this nonsense.
