For those of you who have never used ionic ( http://ionicframework.com/ ) before I definitely recommend checking it out. It's an incredible framework for building mobile applications on top of Cordova. I've been usi

As a long time Android user I had the same complaint about the transitions that the author did. I've already had plenty of time to figure out how things work, so I don't need those visual cues, and it just makes the whole experien

To be fair, you should also subtract the time it will take you to learn the skills that will end up saving you that time. As long as it's less than 365 minutes it should pay off for you in less than a year.

Account recovery emails should probably use one time tokens, meaning that after you click on the link once, the link becomes invalidated. This would largely solve the issue with point b.

I see these niche hacker news clones pop up all the time and then never hear about them again. Have any of them gained real traction?

I guess the grass is always greener on the other side. My start-up (also roughly a CMS) is considering going open source to increase awareness and the size of our target market. We were also considering continuing to make money via a hosted

If you're looking for something a little bit more custom than a pre-built theme, my start-up has been experimenting with offering a custom designed theme for $200. We'll set up a phone call to go over your needs and design prefere

Care to elaborate? I ran some tests and page speeds seem to be quite a bit faster than what google reports as their global average. Short write-up here: http://900dpi.com/blog/Tech-Talk/How-fast-is-900dpi-We-put-o.

A little bit off topic but interesting nonetheless. I've known Beau for many years now and his writing style has improved so much. He is a testament to the "practice makes perfect" (or better at least) mantra. It's reall

Thanks for the questions. 1-Yes we're using Stripe and a good chunk of our current customer base is international. 2-This is a tough one for a start-up, and it's certainly a question we've gotten before. If we were to promise

That's a great question. We're at an interesting spot where we have to decide whether we want to stick with our basic service and become a company that provides really good hosting and services for small-business websites, or if w

Haha good point! We are actually considering supporting FTP as well at some point but we're still investigating to see if it's something our customer base would like. That sentence might need some tweaking soon.

As someone building a healthcare application, it seems kind of risky to base my entire backend on a third party service that could change, go out of business, make their prices prohibitively expensive, etc. It would be really nice if there

I'm a big fan of redactor. I'm using it for both of my projects right now. While it's not perfect, it's certainly the best that I've found. In some cases I do use tinymce because it has better browser support.

In my opinion reddit is very underrated in terms of customer acquisition. It's a target community of early adopters who are willing to start a conversation with you. For my start-up, 900dpi, I got our first 400 users from reddit after

This may be the end result, but it seems to me like the more direct (but not necessarily simple) solution to this problem is to close up those loopholes for the rich. The government does need to collect taxes after all, and if nobody is pay

It seems like there are a lot of people in this space. I feel like it will probably be hard for them to differentiate but if they can get the critical mass I don't see why being in Wisconsin would stop them. I tried signing up and the
