It's by far the most popular framework for React... maybe just look at npm downloads and see for yourself

Your viewpoint is valid but it's a philosophical argument, not a pragmatic one. I'm also not sure what you mean by 'stutter step'. I would posit that 95% of visitors never even notice hydration.

On 3G and even low 4G it absolutely would. I've seen it. Also, a lot of mobile devices do not have as strong processing power as you think. Parsing and executing that much JavaScript also adds time.

If that's your concern it probably makes more sense to just be server-rendering at that point

Doing something fully on the client is a nice idea, if your users all have fast connections, high processing power, and are all visiting from a desktop instead of a mobile device. As soon as you have anyone visiting on a mobile device, and

Let's say you're a mobile user on a 3G network, which a lot of our users are. With a SSR app (that's cached behind Cloudflare), they can see a document in about 100ms max. With a fully client-side rendered app, you're ta

What initial hit are you referring to? If it's the origin request, just chuck it behind a CDN with some Cache-Control headers and call it a day.

I have a marketing site and a dashboard SaaS app. For the marketing site I decided to keep it in React for consistency, but I just kept the server rendering and removed the JS tags from the output. Now it's a fully server-rendered site

How would you convince people to go with you over Cloudflare Sites, Vercel, Netlify etc? Is the pitch "we do what they do, but less" compelling?

My main gripe is that it just simply fails to render things. About half of the time I'll be scrolling down a page and the text will just stop rendering, it becomes a blank white screen. I don't know WTF they're doing to rende

Yeah I'm very intrigued by running the whole app on the edge (in their Edge Runtime). This sounds pretty promising. I'll take a dive and see if I can get it working, thanks for the tip!

Interesting, thanks... do you have any docs on how we might achieve this with Next.js? Am I right in thinking we would have essentially a custom Edge Function first that handles query params, and then a second Edge Function that renders the

I would love to jump over to something like Vercel or Netlify Edge, but maddeningly none of these platforms give you control over the cache key. I have pages that are server-side rendered with Cache-Control headers, but because our visitors

I once had a Slack call where I muted my mic, the UI updated to show it was muted... And my mic was still on. Needless to say I never used Slack calls again.

If you've seen anything from Chris Cillizza you wouldn't say CNN is left-leaning. Also, their major star of CNN+ is Chris Wallace who they poached from Fox News.

Depends what type of project you have. If you're on the next-gen, team-managed project, that was written from the ground up so is supposed to be faster.

Are you a solo developer? If so, go straight to Paddle and don't look any further. They're a merchant of record so will relieve you from having to deal with tax and VAT. They support a number of payment methods including PayPal.
