One thing that is unclear to me - are there items that need to be replaced/regenerated? The article says the costs are mostly capital. If true, on a long enough timeline, are you not just looking at entirely operational costs (sourcing

Even better is to have the IRS to automatically calculate your tax each year. Send a postcard with the results, if you disagree, you do the entire filing yourself. Planet Money[0] did a story about California's attempt years ago. Conse

This was also my immediate thought. Being able to statically deploy larger databases without a server process would be an absolute dream. Approaching dangerously high levels of dark magic.

That is a super fun fact. Not that it changes the calculus, but I would be curious what percentage of human calories come from water sources (fishing, seaweed, lobster, etc).

Given the frequency with which holograms ran amuck, seems prudent to have as much separation as possible between critical functions and the holodeck. From a military-readyiness perspective, that jlso seems like that would put you at an enor

You can continue to use the LuaJIT that has been released? The Lua language has been very stable and has little need to develop for developments sake. There are a few things that might be nice to have, but few of them are worth more platfor

As a user, I am unsure that is a positive. There are near-daily stories about how feature X of a program was removed/hidden/etc for seemingly no reason. Using an offline only program ensures some UI developer does not get to swap

A question I have idly wondered - how much space does it take to feed a country? If you had to feed 100M people with a nutritionally complete diet forever, how small of an area could you manage to generate the food? Using current or near-te

I think companies could choose to be more responsible with their usage. Looking at PyPi utilization, I have to imagine the bulk of it comes from CI/CD tooling hammering the servers without any intermediate caching.
