Personally I found 5.5 a massive step back from 5.4. Both of them still use way too many fallbacks and unnecessary checks, especially if you're having it output php. It's fine if you're just one person and checking everything

Yes, I’d say it is ethically dubious, especially when it goes against what the citizens were asking for. Definitely a fine line and a bit of a gray area but still, lots of gov officials don’t get caught up in this and manage just fine. It’s

And besides, these days no ones giving straight cash to bribe, it's always via other means that are harder to trace and maybe not even directly monetary (sending them on a vacation, golfing, donations to charity...). It's weird th

The other day I half-jokingly said I was going to build a site to expose local council members for taking kickbacks and someone said "that isn't happening" It's literally happening and this story makes it really clear. I

Exactly, why should sites give free bandwidth to the google bots hammering them for nothing in return? Outside of retail, there's no point in allowing google to crawl if you're not getting anything in return.

And then everyone that has to deal with their copy pasted output is too nice to say how bad it is and how much work it just offloads to the next person that’ll probably get frustrated and have an agent handle it.

But we’ve had tools to automate out the boilerplate for years. We don’t need ai for that. It’s seriously like we all forgot we could run one command and scaffold a project. AI isn’t even that great at it. Last I tried a month ago it used a

Also the least fun part of development. Maybe I’m the weird one but I like to just jump right in, planning every last detail before writing code is boring.

ALPRs, from Flock in particular, track more than license plates. They've installed Flock cameras on pedestrian paths even.

Kind of a bad market to try to re-invent automation. Music broadcasting has been largely fully automated for a while now with software like MusicMaster and Zetta.

So many fallbacks. So many function_exists. So much pointless type casting. I swear it’s like the system prompt is designed to waste as many tokens as possible.

But if it replaces people that make money who’s paying for it. None of this makes any sense long term and no one has a plan for it.

The problem is people think AI can replace the 95-95% that isn't code too. That's where we end up with massive unusable codebases that no one understands.
