Productivity gains seem like it’s at best a wash when you factor in the massive tech debt cleanup and additional time needed to spec and review.

Same with writing boilerplate code. It’s been a solved problem yet here we are.

And when they try to serve him they keep being told they need to do it the right way but the cops stop them every time. The system is totally broken.

There's more than just the widescreen patch. It would be really nice if they automated configuring and installing the other tweaks to make it really playable.

It's also pretty ironic for people to ditch Google over ai just to move to another search engine that has AI by default unless you happen to know about the noai subdomain. But it is good that people are willing to break the habit and t

Yeah their memory of how much memory costs is outdated. I was just at a walmart this weekend and a 128 card was 30 bucks.

They've raised prices a lot over the last few years while reducing the storage you get.

We trialed 5.5 and the same queries produced worse results. Not worth the cost increase. Even if there’s a token efficiency gain the higher cost wipes that out.

I’ve interviewed a lot of people and when asking about their git experience they’ve said they use GitHub. To a lot of devs they are the same thing.

Even fully planned it’s still no better than a junior dev. You’re leaving out how much back and forth you have the ai do on itself, which you’d have on a junior dev too. In the end does it matter if it’s giving you what you want? Guess not

When I use ai to code this is pretty close to my workflow too but I find it ends up taking at best just as long as if I were to write the code myself. If m some cases I’ve thrown away what the ai has done and just done it myself. I think th

Recently even searching for things like best xyz on Kagi has been nothing but ai sites in the results. Seems their stop slop project failed. I still use and recommend Kagi but the results have gotten worse, but I also think that’s just an i

Unfortunately in the US, maybe elsewhere, pharmacies and medical offices have trained the elderly it’s okay to verify their dob when they call. Costco does that when they call and it drives me nuts.

I’ve found the opposite. It’s making people lazy. We used to plan stuff and now it’s just dump this LLM created spec to an LLM and ship the code.

Yep mad about that too. I was about half way through upgrading my 45 drives server when they started to go up.

I’m so mad I didn’t max out my main server when I had the chance. Used enterprise sticks were dirt cheap on eBay.

Didn’t even sell the branding since that got sold to the same company that buys up all sorts of brands. The ai “pivot” was a blatant last ditch effort to milk some of the stock. It’s nothing more than fraud.

And if/when companies need to scale back their ai investments they can spin it too and the stock market will eat it up.

It goes back to the whole, you don't make money mining gold, you make money selling shovels. Nvidia has been playing every tech hype cycle recently. Question is, what will be next.

That was my experience with Claude code too. Someone will come and tell you you're doing it wrong. Hard to do it right when it'll just stop randomly, especially when it ends with something like 'let me know if you want me to

That's like saying farmers that don't use pesticides will die out. There's whole industries around doing things not the way big companies say you have to. Human-centric firms will pop up and proposer.

The copilot token pricing is going to wake a lot of companies up. Even with our smaller company only using around 1/3 of our allotted requests, next month the bill will easily twice as much.

How is that possible when the cost of memory and hard drives have gone up 3x+ in the last six months? Maybe cheaper if you're OAI or one of the lucky companies Nvidia is propping up. Everyone else is getting screwed.

The token cost to fix might surpass what a human would cost to just do it.
