Bars really don’t matter. You can have full bars and slow to no internet. You can have one bar but relatively decent internet. Honestly kind of wish the signal display would go away and instead show me when I lose internet.

Amazon was an early investor and pretty much had these built for them.

Their computers don’t need to be replaced often so that makes total sense to me. Both of my m1 series Macs will be more than adequate for my web dev needs for the next few years or at least until Apple force deprecates them.

Of course they would do this. They did this with their top of the line 4k tvs when they first came out. Everything was great, their OS and such worked wonderfully then they started to inject ads for gamefly into notifications and it went do

Looks cool but their text on that page is very clearly written by LLM and pretty exhausting to read.

I could totally see them having responses sprinkled with subtle marketing. Ask it for the best travel backpack and ooops all sponsored.

It’s getting scary how many security related apps are being vibe coded by people with very little security experience (not a knock heh on op, they could very well be experienced).

Never said it wouldn’t come. Said it wouldn’t in a decade.

But we still don’t have FSD despite whatever robotaxi is doing. We’re not getting AGI in a decade.

Flights to Canada can be pretty cheap too. Less than the cost of one month so if you flew out every 90 days you’d still come out ahead. Practically not enough people will do this of course. Would be great for people in the border towns thou

Depends. My last fridge the thermostat went bad and it couldn’t be fixed because they embedded the entire thing into the foam. Terrible design. Was a whirlpool.

It’s not really a gig job if you’re locked to one employer and paid hourly like any other job though.

But if you ask an AI hype person they’ll say we’re almost there we just need a bit more gigawatts of compute!

I’m still daily driving my M1 Max and have no reason to upgrade for a long time. There’s really nothing in my workflow that could be markedly improved performance wise. There’s only thing is maybe more ram as the need for that keeps growing

Apple already sells pretty competitively priced computers. The base Mac mini for example. For most people that’s already overkill.

It’s been a limitation for years. Sometimes it’ll stop, sure. https://www.theregister.com/2025/09/30/senators_inquiry_tesl...

No, read the original HN thread. Also plenty of Tesla fanboys.

I love how people are considering RR crossings an "edge case". It's been something FSD / Autopilot haven't been able to do and it seems like one of those, absolutely should be able to before being allowed in product

My eBay sales have been way down this year too and so far q4 is not looking good at all. People are cutting back across the board and it’s going to be very ugly once wall street stops plugging their ears and covering their eyes.

One thing rectangle does that I absolutely love is todo mode. I don’t actually use it for todo but having a windows set to always be visible and have the full window shortcut adjust based on that, cheffkiss.

Modals at least are a solved problem these days.

There's some parts where I'm like that looks nice, but good grief theirs so many bugs. I know they'll be fixed, but how was this ever approved?

To be fair I’ve been in the space for close to 20 years now, worked on some of the largest sites and this is the first I’m hearing of the public suffix list.

Are you able to wildcard excludes?

Can also confirm. We’ve had some client projects that had npm inside of containers and those were horribly slow on macOS.

Zapier has been doing this for how long and no one talks about them like some hot new startup.

I’ve still yet to see how this improves anything? I saw someone mentioning it can use Spotify. Okay but like so can older gen assistants. Seems like they’re just trying to sell a much more expensive way of doing something that already exist

It's actually shocking to see 1pass use electron. They had great first party support but that explains why the app has been absolute garage post v7.

Shopify has kinda fixed this for most direct merchant sales. Yeah there’s still work to do on the support and returns front but it’s a hell of a lot better than other checkout flows, lookin at you Woocommerce.
