Tight deadlines and poor scoping. At least from my experience. When corners need to be cut, code quality goes out the window.

Everyone is blaming npm but GitHub should be put on blast too for allowing the repos to be created and not quickly flagged. GitHub has a massive malware problem as it is and it doesn’t get enough attention.

Also a good reminder that you should be storing secrets in some kind of locker, not in plain text via environment variables or config files. Impossible to get everyone on board but if you can you should as much as possible. I hate that high

17 years and it’s been the best site I use daily. Thanks to everyone keeping this place pleasant!

Lowes hotels at Universal Orlando has them. Worse is they sometimes just slide open on their own.

Noticed SSDs went up too. There's a "black friday" sales price for a 4TB crucial external drive that's at its highest price in 90 days. Bad time if you need to build a computer.

Exactly how anyone still scraping Twitter does it. Dirt cheap. Same with accounts to use to get around api limits.

I thought it was an Ive problem but once he left nothing really changed. Sure the Mac got some functionality back but that’s about it. They really need to just not do a redesign and flesh out their software.

Not necessarily. There are cases where hardware support ends and trying to get drivers for a newer kernel is basically impossible without a lot of work. For example, one of my highpoint HBAs are completely unusable without running an older

Would love to see how much pressure is put onto purchasing addons from the local dealers. I remember reading people running into that when picking up their Lightnings.

I had to filter all of the AI callouts from Clickup. They have an ai button on every gosh darn ui element. By far the worst offender I’ve seen.

I guess technically yeah but they're usually bills that wouldn't have any chance of being law on their own. "I'll vote for it if you include this" kinda deals.

My model Y leaks from the trunk and is about to go in again to see if they can fix it. Not even a first run Y either.

Always amazes me that we allow multiple bills to be packaged together. Needs to be one bill = 1 vote. Not hundreds/thousands of pages of bills no one will read all rushed through because funding.

I’m still going to keep using the digital id lane whenever I can. The gov and tsa already has my biometrics because of my passport + global entry + precheck status. Might as well use the much faster security lane. But this offering from App

I agree it's time to follow Canada and the rest of the world but it needs to be done through congress, not executive orders. It needs to have a proper framework for migration and laws for how payments are rounded.

Not to mention all of the iframe embeds. I’d argue it’d helped YouTube become the defacto go to platform for corporate videos. Yeah there’s other solutions but the number of corp sites that just toss videos on YouTube is insane.

Yep, my SanDisk SSD died, was one that had the bad firmware but supposedly a fixed revision. They did RMA it but took about a month. Only using that now for Ventoy, can't really trust it for anything else. Also annoying is they wanted

Considering 1TB sandisk ssds (which have notoriously had high failure rates) were around 100 for 1TB for a while is pretty impressive they got it into that form factor. I wouldn't trust them for anything important though.

For some reason CVS refuses to take my UnitedHealth insurance for flu (but will no problem for covid). They said it would have been 200 bucks and I laughed at them and went to Costco.

You should check around, bunch of groups / counties provide them for free or low cost. Also Costco was at least a few years ago dirt cheap without a prescription.

Not to mention the US companies probably want to develop their own chips to get away from Nvidia too. I don’t really see why any company would want to base their entire business on the whims of nvidia.

Last I checked there wasn’t and you still had to fiddle with a few about:config options to actually turn off all the ai stuff. I would be fine with it if it was just a settings page rather than hidden settings.
