Very interesting. I‘m not very knowledgeable in the payment space, unfortunately. Do you think there is a way to abstract the concepts over multiple, pluggable payment providers (other than Stripe) in the future?

If most of the workflow and documentation is not based on git, but instead on issues and PRs, is there an easy way to swap the underlying platform, i.e. GitHub to Gitlab?

I think large language models are still in their infancy. The models are extremely sparse, but we don‘t have the tooling yet to deal with these kinds of structures efficiently. Your intuition might be right in a future, maybe.

There are multiple open-source GPTs, but GPT-3 is absolutely massive - larger than the image models actually! So, unfortunately, text generation is probably even more complex and resource intensive than image generation (especially to train

I recently wrote a VS Code plugin to use GPT-3 for text completions and editing of text using instructions [1]. The main intention was scientific writing, but I didn‘t find it particularly useful until now, unfortunately. [1] https:/&

I see, nice! It would be great if you could add the prompt to the shirt, I think that would be a great conversation starter ;)

They use lexica.art pregenerated images, it‘s also mentioned on their website.

I was interested in doing the same, but the economics don‘t make sense yet imho if you would really perform queries to the models. Do you just text-match similar queries on lexica.art? Edit: NVM just saw that they provide an API…

Windows has pretty decent keyboard shortcuts for manipulating windows‘ positions, though. Clicking and manual window manipulation should very rarely be necessary, shouldn’t it?

IMHO a more interesting metric would be the ratio of successful startups using cloud technologies over the last years. I think the cloud is especially interesting to get a competitive advantage early on.

I think the use cases where you do not need to „know cloud“ are quite limited. Where does knowing the cloud start? When you use a transactional email provider? When you start using an auth. provider? When you integrate an external monitorin

Old-school monolith architecture with not-so-boring technology. I went the same path for a project, but in hindsight I would chose popular, well maintained, not necessarily boring, technology and a cloud architecture for most use cases I ca

Imho it’s kind of pointless to judge how simple a type definition looks like. The definition is there to make sure the interface is correctly typed. Edit: and sometimes a simple/beautiful interface requires complex types..

I very much enjoyed Andrej Karpathy‘s „from scratch“ bitcoin implementation [1]. I‘m sure there are other projects on GitHub explaining blockchain concepts directly in code. [1] https://karpathy.github.io/2021/06/2

I can invite everyone interested to get an overview of the EU housing market to read the Deloitte Property Index [1]. It‘s a quite difficult time to buy property all around the EU. Does anyone know other good reads to get a better understan

I guess it's a great exercise to set up a repository yourself in this way, but once you have experience with the technologies involved, it's much easier to just use a cookiecutter template [1] to set up your package. Another aspec

You are right - it would be better to compare something like the yearly middle-class lifestyle spendings of a 100k€ and 200k$ family all things considered. I would think the difference is smaller than expected considering housing alone. How

That relies on the assumption that money is the sole reason to decide where to live. Even from a monetary perspective, top talent can easily earn >100k€/year in Europe too, which enables a very good lifestyle given that you have to

It appears to be a pretty fantastic time for full-stack development and solo founders. For me, the context switch between client and server was always difficult using a Scala/TypeScript setup (startup). As you said, unless you rely on

Very interesting, I didn‘t know about tRPC yet. I remember in the early days of ScalaJS there were similar ambitions, but I believe it never really caught on. I will definitely give it a go, thanks.

I write one sentence per line as well, but use line wrapping to make it more readable during writing. Reading long sentences on a single line is unpleasant imho. I‘ll try switching from line wrap to full display to get a better picture of t

For some use cases though, the cloud is just amazingly cheap and fast. We are currently scaling our (computationally cheap) batch re-training jobs on AWS Lambda and it‘s quite incredible that you can train thousands of models in parallel wi

Is there a large org where commitment/getting things done is more important/valued than social skills/network/luck? I.e. is there a fair model to measure an individual‘s contribution?

Still.. do you think being a top talent in ML guarantees success for your own company, for example? I think there are a lot of valuable skills to have, being an expert in X is just one of them.

> My advice would be to scale fast. Hire subcontractors and productize your offering as quickly as you can. So.. then you are back to the startup idea? I don‘t think that works for a lot of consultancies, does it?
