https://slack.com/ We switched from HipChat recently, so far it's working fine. The only thing we miss are cross team notifications, but apparently they are working on it (can't find the link at the moment).

Having this enabled in development and testing environments sounds like a good idea to me, any thoughts? Will definitely try it out locally asap.

If you count on 100k visitors per day, it doesn't really matter which one you choose. We are serving well over 10M page views daily and we don't see a reason to switch away from PHP yet. The only reason I see you might want to go

Agreed, but I was unpleasantly surprised when the first senior applicant couldn't solve FizzBuzz. And the one after. And another one. Since then FizzBuzz like basic tasks are part of every interview we conduct, not just for entry level
