I think that depends on the specific skillset they are looking for. In the systems software industry $120K CAD total compensation is about half of what a Senior Staff makes based on what I've seen. Generally speaking, people need to st

Correct. GPUs are not efficient with very small networks.

Cell phone cameras can produce 12-megapixel images, and the data from the sensor is uncompressed. It's very large. Sampling all pixels at once would require much larger internal memories in the image processors, which would make the ch

I wouldn't say trivial. First, in order to use GAN training you need access not only to the adversarial discriminator, but also to it's derivatives. Second, the derivatives need to be reasonably bounded and reasonably smooth, othe

How is it any different from any of the other perks that Apple and other similar employers provide? I don't really think having a cafeteria/gym/shuttle is my employer's business.

Most companies seem to prefer folks who have a broad base of general computing knowledge plus one specific area of expertise. This is sometimes called a "T-shaped programmer". There are definitely exceptions, but is a good place t

You can do inference pretty easily with 8-bit fixed point weights. Now attempt doing the same during training. Training and inference are only similar at a high level, not in actual application.

Most interesting. As a layperson I have trouble understanding what happens 17:00 to 06:00 the next day. What does it mean to "flag down" if you are still running 911 calls all night?

As a job seeker I would need to be pretty desperate in order to spend time doing homework assignments knowing how little they cost the interviewer. Before I spend time as a candidate I want to make sure the interviewer is seriously consider

Can you back any of that with objective metrics? Right now it sounds a lot like what I hear from amateur audiophiles.

Some of us would rather live in a country with better welfare even if we won't directly benefit from it. Compensation is good enough up here IMO.

How are you applying for EU citizenship? All I can find is that it is automatically granted to all Nationals if member states. I.e. if you are Irish then you automatically have EU citizenship. Is there anything else you can do?

Have you asked the people who put you in that position? They may have a specific role for you even if they didn't verbalize it. In the absence of other info I would let the more senior guys size him up in terms of technical skills, and

I have not done that yet, but that was basically my original motivation. The main difficulty would be obtaining a good dataset for training, specifically a dataset where most of the faces are not looking straight ahead at the camera, and wh

Sorry, I don't understand. What sort of features are you thinking about? And why only 16 possibilities? There's a nearly infinite number of ways in which the average of 4x4 pixels can be a particular value.
